MORE BREAKING NEWS for a Monday morning is news from Virgin Atlantic of pre-tax, pre-exceptional profits more than doubled to £41.6m. The airline, 49% owned by Singapore International Airlines, says that the launch of the new Upper Class Suite helped to attract more premium-paying passengers, with a 10.1% increase in business travellers compared with the year before. In 2007 the airline will begin to fly to Mauritius. And if you are a passenger on Virgin in the immediate future you will see happy staff faces too. They are to receive a bonus equivalent to two weeks extra pay.

Nope - I hadn't heard about MRU either. Though ABTN cannot be quoted as the most accurate of sources - from past experience.

In the thread RE: Virgin Atlantic Makes Profit Of US$173.6 Million (by BCAL May 9 2006 in Civil Aviation) ) it was announced

Quote:
Singapore Airlines Limited CEO Chew Choon Seng has announced that Virgin Atlantic made a profit in the Financial Year to 31 March 2006 of S$273.5 Million / US$173.6M / £93.8M.

VS had changed their accounting year to coincide with that for SQ, so perhaps the extra £18M came from March's operations. ABTN is a bit out of date!
