Delta 72 Diversion To Gander Reason?

Sun Jul 02, 2006 4:13 pm

Anyone know why yesterdays (June 30th) Delta flight 72 from JFK-IST diverted to Ganger ?. It turned around over the Atlantic and landed in Gander. Yes I know flights divert all the time etc, but I am curious as to the reason for this one.

thanks

Then a maint cancellation due to a blown tire...Tires flown in, A/C repaired then ferried to JFK on 01JUL.

If a flight diverts for medical reasons, does the airline even attempt to bill the sick passenger for the additional costs?
Hypocrisy. It's the new black for liberals.

JFK-IST is a long run.....with the stop in Gander, were there crew/hour issues as well?

Tough break for DL and its pax, but sometimes things like this happen. When did the airplane get out of Gander?

The weather in JFK was bad yesterday... They had 1 to 2 hour delays because of Thunderstorms and weather in route... So they may have devertied because of that...

Anyone know the reasons for the blown tires? Was it an overweight landing? Or was it just one of those things, like mentioned earlier, when it rains it pours?
