US Airways - Highest Industry Margins In US

Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:29 pm

I was just browsing LCC's expected earnings this Quarter. $283 Mil, a 9+% profit margin. Slightly higher than Southwest "with" their 135 Million in hedging gains. CAL and AAI for comparison are expected to post 4% margins.

That's really a remarkable turn around, to go from a bottom dweller in the industry, to by far and away the most profitable carrier in the near term.

Just think what WN could have as a profit margin if they eliminated pension plans, benefits & jobs. Not to mention depress wages to levels of 20 years ago.

Yes, quite a turnaround at US.

Yes we are all very excited about it. This is the first time I've actually seen numbers for our Q2 results...they told us it would be significant, however.

I'm actually happier for the east employees because they have really been through a lot more than we have out west. Yes they did take pay cuts and lost benefits, but they still have jobs. That's something we should all be thankful for.
Catch a ride on a smile!

I did not know WN had pension plans.
