But it was a completely stupid idea to start operations from Vatry- a cargo-airport right in the middle of nowhere..
Air Turquoise are not Ryanair who can sell remote-access airports as main-hubs.Sad for french aviation but the business-concept was never ment to work. They should have gone to Montpellier and replace Air Littoral !

Certainly, but their website seemed to indicate that they were forced out of Reims-Champagne by the authorities?

Vatry, June 28, 2006:

Everything was in place, including baggage carts and a platform bus, but no pax! I got the impression that the terminal had never been used yet. On the Air Turqoise website I found that they supposedly moved their operations there later that day, June 28.
There was also an 'Air Caraibes Atlantique' counter and a 'New Horizon' counter - any thoughts on that?

But why did they start flying from Reims ????

They had to compete with the TGV to Paris.

I am sorry but there are many bigger cities in need of air service with companies ready to pay much for a daily roundtrip. Good examples of success can be found in ETZ with twinjet. I believe the three Normand cities could support new services to TLS, BOD or MRS.

Yet it is another terrible news.

Another route dropped from Luton then...

Some of the flights leaving Luton for Valatry only had 2-3 pasengers on I understand and was never a real sucess.

Indeed. Reims airport reverted to its primary use by the French Air Force.

When operating our of Reims it looked like they were doing really well. NCE flights often had very high loads. Unfortunately Vatry isn't exactly "somewhere" and I guess that this greatly affected their chances of survival... and the move probably got their investor to change their mind.

Sad sad sad state of the French airline industry...
