Quoting BillReid (Thread starter): Here's an Idea take 30 Billion, combine NW, DL, And CO. NW flies only International to the far east ONLY. Continental flies only international to Europe ONLY. Delta connects everything within America, is the domestic component ONLY. NW Int gateways MSP, SEA, LAX, DTW, ATL CO Int gateways ATL, EWR, IAH, DTW, MSP, JFK DL Hubs ATL, EWR, DTW, IAH DL Focus Cities CVG, SLC, CLE, MEM Now thats a major airline system! |
Quoting Fleet Service (Reply 6): Personally, I'd take the Thirty billion and flee to an island. |
Quoting BillReid (Reply 7): I can't do that because it isn't my own money. I think that is against the law unless the airline would be called Air Enron? |
Quoting 1337Delta764 (Reply 4): I don't think that they would continue to operate separately, and would prefer to consolidate as one. The airline would be called Delta and would combine all the destinations. |
Quoting Jacobin777 (Reply 9): though I'm sure Keesje would dream of seeing this one day.. |

Quoting Jacobin777 (Reply 9): I think it would still be called CO..as CO has much more brand recognition around the world.. |
Quoting Alitalia744 (Reply 10): His dream is my nightmare! |
Quoting DL4EVR (Reply 12): And DL doesnt???? They're in Europe more than any other US carrier! |

Quoting GoCOgo (Reply 16): Can we change the title of this thread to "CO Merger Possibility # ?‡ |
Quoting Tugger (Reply 2): Noreltanental Airlines! Now THAT is one hell of a good name (if I do say so myself). |

Quoting Jacobin777 (Reply 14): Not compared to CO it doesn't.... |
Quoting OttoPylit (Reply 20): Sorry, Delta is larger, both domestically and internationally than CO. Feel free to count the destinations flown with own metal. It has been discussed in some of the CO/DL threads already and proven that DL is larger, domestically, and internationally, especially in Europe. |

Quoting MastaHanky (Reply 15): The remaining 5% will be a bunch of tiny airlines which fly routes that are actually useful, their planes won't crash, and they will be much more efficient than Microsoft Air. Unfortunately, their insanely technical booking procedures will prevent most consumers from flying them. |
Quoting BillReid (Thread starter): Here's an Idea take 30 Billion, combine NW, DL, And CO. |
Quoting Dtwclipper (Reply 1): And you needed to start a new thread because....... |
Quoting Centrair (Reply 23): SLC just doesn't cut it. |
Quoting PITA333 (Reply 29): My Idea: A Perfect Airliners.net........ where all these meaningless merger threads would either A.) Become one thread or B.) Go away all together untill someone gets some cold hard facts. |

Quoting Jacobin777 (Reply 31): I've never argued that DL has more destinations or isn't larger...I think CO's name is more recognised than that of DL... |
Quoting Jacobin777 (Reply 9): think it would still be called CO..as CO has much more brand recognition around the world.. |
Quoting OttoPylit (Reply 32): Do you really think that CO has more brand recognition than DL in Asia, Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa, etc. I don't think so! Not even in the U. S. |
Quoting OttoPylit (Reply 32): We'll just agree to disagree on this point. |

Quoting B777A340Fan (Reply 37): Amongst the healthy ones: AA, UAL, CO Amongst the struggling ones: NW, DL |
Quoting SESGDL (Reply 36): Not even close. Especially not in the US, where it's most important. The number of people who fly Delta (more than double that of Continental) speaks for itself. Delta is much more well-known that Continental. |
Quoting Bobnwa (Reply 39):
I believe that DL and NW are healthier than UA even though they are in bankruptcy. |
Quoting SLCUT2777 (Reply 38):
UA might be out of Chapter 11, but they are far from being healthy! |
Quoting NorthwestEWR (Reply 42): If Northwest, Continental and Delta merged the fleet would look something like this right after the merger. Including regional partners the new airline would operate about 2,286 aircraft ! |
Quoting B777A340Fan (Reply 41): And that is based on.....? To me, UAL is at least doing something right. It seems to be expanding and from the little research that I've done so far, it has turned into a profitable company. |

Quoting Haggis79 (Reply 46): well, I think for Germany at least, this is not true... Delta had this highly successful "Synchronisation"-commercial in Germany in the mid-90s (the one with the "Adiemus"-music) and I think most people will remember that ad when hearing or reading "Delta Airlines". As opposed to that "Continental" is only known with people who are frequent flyers or aviation maniacs Wink. |
