Status Of SAA's A346 & A320 Orders

Sat Jul 22, 2006 5:37 pm

After receiving contradictory pieces of information about SAA's A340-600 and A320-200 orders I ask the SAA experts here:

- is the order for two A346 (ZS-SNJ/K) still valid?
- was the order for 15 A320 cancelled or indefinitely delayed?

Thanks
PH

SA placed an order for 9 A346 frames, which has all been delivered. There are no further Airbuses on order... to my knowledge anyway. Transnet (parent company of SAA) cancelled the entire A320 order.

Didn't SAA's original commitment include seven orders plus four frames on lease?

For the A346, it was 6 firm orders and 3 leases from ILFC.

So the 738's are staying?

SAA got 11 A319 in fleet so I guess they´re keeping 738.

Hello,

may I ask the SAA experts what the status of the installation of the new C-class seats into the A342 is?? Are they still going forward with it during this summer as planned?

Thanks for any update,
KA.

The A319's was obtained to replace the old 732 fleet. The 738's are staying.

IIRC one A342 frame's J-class has been converted. I am not sure what the schedule for the rest of the J-class refurbishment is.

Airbus has not removed these orders from their books. Just check the June 06 Orders & Deliveries pages. They show 15 A320s still on order.
