Is Delta going to repaint the song aircraft back to mainline colors?

I don't know but if they do I sure as heck hope that they keep the on board product, it was one of the most comfortable coach classes I have ever sat in and the IFE kicked ass, way way better than B6

They already have painted some back into the Delta colors. You can tell if the 757-200 you see has the satellite bump. The last 757-200 to be painted back into Delta colors will be the Pink Song for obvious reasons.

Indeed. I saw a pair of them come into BOS minutes apart from MCO and TPA a few weeks ago. At first, I was thinking: "uh-oh, no TVs for those poor souls", but then I saw they looked rather clean and realized they were ex-Song aircraft freshly painted in the standard DL scheme.

Anyone know exactly which ones have been repainted?

I've got:

N614DL
N651DL
N655DL
N693DL
N6702
N6712B
N6713Y
N6716C
N67171

Any others?

Green Song N650DL landed at KSJC tonight....looked pretty dirty.....I shot video of it. Be interesting to see how long it is before it's painted. I haven't nailed the Pink one yet......it's always on final in KJSC when I am going the opposite way on Hwy 101....Grrrrrrrrr  Wink

I just flew on N614DL last Thursday. What an amazing flight! The a/c was just like new; the only thing giving her away were the loos. Otherwise, very nice a/c. And yes, it was in DL colors, although on the interior, everything was blue/green a la Song. They even had the Song logo on the aft bulkhead.

I'm about to board N654DL here in TPA -- heading to BOS as DL 1876 , still in green Song livery.

And -- guess what just landed on 18R? You got it -- N610DL -- Pink Song!

She's a beaut. Arriving in TPA as DL 1897 from LGA -- heading out as DL 1772 to JFK.

Has anyone been on an ex-Song plane with First Class? I am curious as to what the seats in First look like and how the IFE was assembled on the seats.

I still see Song-painted aircraft flying over my house daily. I guess they still have a few more to go...

There were only 36 in total (I think), so it shouldn't take all that long.

I hope Dl incorporates a significant amount of SONG into the mainline product.

Somewhere I read said all flights over 1750 nm will have the state of the art IFE system, not just the song routes.

There were a total of 48 Song a/c at the end.

The PTVs are coming but other aspects have already been incorporated - such as signature drinks, leather seats, etc.

The IFE system will be installed on not just the 48 ex-Song 757s, but also on some regular DL 737-800s and domestic 767-300s. The flights over 1750 miles will definitely get these reconfigured a/c but some other shorter routes may get them too (though not on all flights in those shorter-length markets)

Some of the ex song routes (now being operated by DL mainline) are 738's, not the 757's that Song used.

Having just gotten in to BOS after riding on ship 654 from TPA, the one thing I noticed is that the IFE is now branded as "Delta", not Song. The interface is changed, the graphics are different, and there are even more functions now. Movie selection was awesome!

I just can't get over how superior the DL/Song IFE is to others out there. I was on B6 last week and their IFE does the trick, but is truly shoddy compared to DL's (not to mention my credit card reader didn't work so I couldn't watch the movies...although there were only 3, and they start at the same time...as compared to Delta's system, where I had ~10 movies to chose from ON DEMAND!)

Anyways, just another rumination on how great Song was (and Delta's new Song-like product will be, although I miss the BOB food).

The repainting has been going on for awhile, but the first interior mod has just started last week. It is ship 6717 and should be flying on the 16th. I don't know when the next one will be done. The same crew is to do a 767-300 next.

DALMD88, thanks for the info - if you get a chance, snap a pic of the interior mod, would be great to see. I always wished they would put a shadowed widget on the bulkheads similar to how Alitalia does:

The 48 ex song crafts all ready have the IFE and the installation of new ones on existing crafts has started. Most of the ex song routes will have the IFE.

So will the MD-88s and MD-90s get the new IFE, too? I assume that means all of the B-767-300ERs and B-777-200ERs will also get it. So, it seems all the Boeing airplanes, from the B-737-800 and up, but not the Mad Dogs?

No, DL won't be touching those MadDogs. So far, not all the Boeing planes will be getting them either, just some 738s, 763s (domestic non-ER). No update on the international 763ERs (which seem to have a weight issue with installing PTVs in Y)

The tail is the best part of the livery IMHO. I especially love being in atl and seeing a line up of just the tails of the widebodies. I looks really nice, as long as you don't have a song painted tail or a 97 livery tail thrown in there.

I second that. It might look a little better with a Delta logo on the tail, rather than just plain colors.

I must say i did like the Song/Delta I.F.E. a little more than the Jetblue I.F.E. like Dartland said above.Hopefully they will "slowup" on the painting process so we can see them around a lot longer.
