Longest Route From Your Airport?

Mon Jun 26, 2000 4:44 am

What is the longest direct and/or nonstop flight from your local airport(s)? From POS, the longest direct flight is to LHR, which is flown once daily by BW via BGI (3x weekly) or ANU or UVF (each 2x weekly). The entire trip takes some 10 hours and is flown with L-1011-500 TriStars. During peak periods there are also nonstop charters from POS to LGW by airlines such as Monarch and Britannia.

From my home airport, San Diego, CA's Lindbergh Field, the longest direct flight is British Airways service to London Gatwick via Phoenix on a 744. The longest non-stop flight, however, is American's service to Boston, operated by a 737-800.

From my airport at school, Lafayette, IN's Purdue University airport, the longest scheduled flight is Mesaba's flight to Detroit. I swear, we do longer flights out of the airport in Piper Cherokees than the airlines fly! The only other scheduled route out of LAF is operated by Great Lakes to O'Hare.

Well, my local airport is VIX,(Vitória, Brazil) and the longes non-stop flight would be:

VASP , daily to SSA in a 737-200 and
TAM, daily to SSA in a F-100

the distance between the two cities is about 1150km

From JAX, the longest route is probably JAX-DFW on a DL 757/AA MD-83, or perhaps JAX-PHL on a US 733/4. There are several one-stop direct flights, the longest is JAX-SFO via ATL on DL. We also have JAX-STL-MSP (TWA) and JAX-CVG-MSP (DL).
With any luck, we'll get our first international route before long...

For me, since I live in Mountain View, CA, there are two major airports for me nearby--San Jose, CA (SJC) and San Francisco (SFO).

In that case, the longest flight from SJC is SJC-NRT (American Airlines) and the longest flight from SFO is SFO-SYD (United Airlines and Qantas Airways).

At Lambert (STL), the longest route is TWA, which flies to CDG. The flight is carried out by a 762. TW does have a flight to Gatwick that leaves around 7:30 PM each day. TWA also flies nonstop to Maui and Honolulu. Both of those flights leave between 11:30 and noon. They are operated by 763's. But CDG is the furthest

The longest non-stop from MEL is one of the longest in the world, MEL-LAX operated daily by UA and 5 times a week by QF.

LAX-MEL is the longest non-stop flight in time taken. JNB-JFK is a fraction longer in distance but quicker due to prevailing winds.

In the next few years the longest flight out of MEL will probably be MEL-DXB on EK's A345s.

The longest nonstop flight from Washington National (DCA) is to Dallas (I think), served twelve times a day on American, and three times a day on Delta.

The longest direct flight from DCA is to SFO, I believe, flown twice daily by ATA (through MDW), once daily by American (through DFW), once daily by Delta (through ATL) and once daily by Continental (through CLE).

Farthest you can get from PIR nonstop would be DEN on a United Express Beech 1900D (4x/day)

Direct would be MSP (via ABR and/or FSD) on Mesaba's Saab 340 (6x/day)

Here at TLV it's the LY 105 & 106,
LY 105 is TLV-JFK-LAX it takes about 18 hours.
LY 106 is LAX-TLV non-stop, it takes 14 hours.
meaning that you t/o and land on the same time, since LAX is -8 GMT and TLV is +2 GMT

My hometown airport EEN currently has no airline service as 9L pulled out. When they were here it was EEN-EWR with a BE1.

The closest airport with airline service is Manchester, NH. There's a virtual tie there with two routes:

WN with a 733 along the route MHT-MCI at 1,234 miles and WN and US (MetroJet) with a 733 and 737 respectfully on the route MHT-MCO at 1,137 miles.

Cool post!

The longest route from IAH is CO6/7 IAH-NRT
14hr flying time on 777-200ER.
From Hobby I believe it is either LGA or LAX by American with MD80s.
From Ellington field UPS flies some flights to SDF and South America.

For now it is Cleveland to London Gatwick. But there are plans for more trans-atlantic flights in the near future.
