Just a quick question about the recorded announcements and music that is often heard on many of the airlines today. Is the music and announcements played on a CD that is on the aircraft or is it more like a button that is pushed and the sound file is simply stored onto a computer on the aircraft?

By "all digital," you fortunately encompass CDs. As I boarded a S5 ERJ 170 the other day, I thought the music sounded rather strange. Once I took my seat, I could hear the problem -- the CD was skipping repeatedly! A F/A heard it about then, opened the overhead containing the IFE equipment, and removed it and placed a different CD in the slot.
The Ted safety videos I've seen on A320 aircraft have been on digital video tape. This is the same medium that plays the IFE video programming.

Not too long ago I was sitting in seat 1A of a CO Express ERJ-145 and noticed that the audio system was being run off of a standard DIN-sized CD player like you might have in your car!

Actually there is a room in the cargo hold that houses musicians and professional voice people, but the airlines don't want you to know that.

Esp. since if passengers knew the airlines had a TARDIS in the cargo hold, they'd be clamoring for bigger seats and more legroom ....
No word on whether or not classes in screaming are also provided ...
