Hi every body
I have to do a work where I need to know the number of airliners that fly in the united states.
For many other countries I found some statistics about the amount of airliner aircraft.
Perhaps some of you have some statistical handbooks with new figures or do know a good homepage to find the informations. At this point it is important to define the word airliner. What is an airliner? For me it is an aircraft that flies for a company that is registered in an airline register (no business aviation company). A Swearingen Metro is an airliner in my eyes.
I would be relieved if somebody could help me.

Your best bet is running all the US airlines through http://www.airfleets.net which should give you a pretty accurate fleet number sheet for each

But unfortunately not helpful for me. I had no chance to find out how many active airliners are flying in the States...
The thing that makes it impossible is that this database also shows the stored aircraft that will never ever fly as well as the former american registered planes that are now flying in other countries.
I am still looking for a good database or other information source.

I'm sure there is a way of selecting ONLY active a/c

A bit bored between flights today, so I checked the majors' websites and got these numbers (oldest being from last years annual reports). Probably add a couple thousand I'm guessing from all the regional carriers, scheduled charter operators and cargo companies.
