He arrived at that most likely because he has no idea how WN operates and doesnt realize that EVERY airline oversells flights and what another a/c type would do to WN's cost structure...

I once was on a crew that turned one in under 30... of course, it was delayed like you wouldn't believe and we had about 8 people working the ramp side and a lot of pax REALLY motivated to get off or find their seats quickly.

As many others have said, the 737-700 is the largest aircraft WN will use at least in the forseeable future. They may go slightly larger (149 pax) when the 737 replacement enters service, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Ehh the 737-200's were retired and the 737-500 are being placed on the former 737-200 routes, while the -300 move in on some of the -500 routes and the -700 goes into some of the longer -300 routes and so forth.....

The new WN aircraft fleet would be when traffic grows higher. Most likely from 2016 to 2020 WN would need a new fleet of some aircraft.

And, I guarantee you that the plane that will be chosen at that time is just a twinkle in some Boeing engineer's eye right now. But, it won't be too different from a 737 in terms of size. Even if we do go with a smaller a/c to serve smaller markets, as Gary has hinted since he won't rule anything out, a 737-sized plane will still be the backbone of the fleet.

Well, I can say that WN will probably be a launch customer for Y1 (whatever it ends up being names), however, they will most likely not order aircraft that can hold more than 149 pax in their config.

Do you think it could be the 738 or the 739 or the 739LR? Or it could be the 797 that is just a little bit longer than 737 but fuel efficient and safe.

Oh, look, you were right!

Southwest does have an Airbus, albeit not an A321, but an A319!  

EDIT: I take back what I said, they do have an A321 in their fleet!

Allright guys.....hes only between 13-15 years old...cut him some slack...We were ALL there once and we probably had some really silly notions regarding aircraft when we were younger, lest you have all forgotten where you came from....He is just stating his opinion. Quit acting like a bunch of savages going after your next meal....Sheesh....make me wonder why I participate on this forum with some of you.....Show a little kindness or is that not in your nature? Put anyone in a defensive situation then they will strike back....Y'all remind me of bullies in a schoolyard.....

Because this has turned into a "slag-the-new-user" festival, I'm locking the thread and deleting those posts which are particularly egregious. Keep in mind the airliners.net is a community composed of all ages and knowledge levels and, I think, that adds to the flavor of the forum. Lest you forget, each of us had to start at little, if any knowledge of aviation. As such, please show the same respect to all users, old or new, that you would expect shown to you. Not to sound too hokey here, but respect is a two-way street - there are ways to respectfully answer questions you may find simple without resorting to the schoolyard bullying I've seen in this thread today. Frankly, it's a little disgraceful that grown adults would behave in the manner that some of you have chosen to.
