I doubt the MD-80s can make it. I know DL uses its MD-88s on ATL-TUS/PHX runs occasionally, and those are barely making it in, and that flight is a lot shorter than LAS-SFB, which is over 2000 miles.

they concentrate on small markets which is not served or with expensive connecting flights by the others. Orlando-Vegas is served by other airlines already, they don't want to get into US Airways/America West territory.

There MD 83's could make it with about 650 miles to spare.

Delta and US Airways run it now...The DL flight out is about as good as any nightclub in Vegas....

They couldn't make it in either direction with a full load. They run charters from Florida all the time and they fuel stop in LA, TX or OK.

The MD87 might not make it, but the 83 has a range of 2500nm, LAS to sanford is less than 2000nm.

First of all, the other flights are into MCO not SFB, which really doesn't make a difference.

I think the flight would to excellent, as it could provide additional connections between hubs. There is alot of O/D Traffic with Allegiant as LAS and SFB are both popular destinations, and I'm sure they could make a great connection from a western city to Florida.

Yep, WN started a daily N/S flight LAS-MCO this summer. If Allegiant started LAS-MCO they would also have to compete with an HP and DL red-eye.

The planes struggled to make it on TOL-LAS...cost them way too much in fuel and had to yank it. I could only imagine what SFB (not MCO) to LAS would be like with all the competition out of MCO.

Even though they reduced to 150 seats they can't make it routinely on a full load...fuel stop required. Plus it's not their profile to fly from major point to major point....grin.

With better, more viable 737/A320 aircraft with the range capabilities I would imagine...

Does Allegiant have any "direct" flights between the two cities at all (not non-stop)?

Allegiant is a vacation airline, and they are "fly over states" friendly. So flying Las-Orl doesn't make sense because they bring people to these points not connect them. They make money by flying into 2nd rate airports, and I guess it works. I don't know how popular flying is over these areas, I guess Vegas and Orlando might be in the midwest, but I can tell you that the 3 airports they fly into California, airports are based at cities with very little air traffic, except for maybe Fresno but still small. I guess they know something other airlines don't because they are having a lot of success and with the gas guzzling MD80 too. Oh wait never mind, I just thought the fact that they pay their employees regional airline wages.
