I was thinking about that the other day. I was under the impression that the 752's that were getting the winglets were primarily to run the transatlantic flights (TXL for instance).
When departing SEA a few days ago, there was a CO 752 with winglets parked at the B Concourse. (First time I've seen a 752 with winglets in person.) So why would a winglet-equipped 752 be doing domestic routes when they can be better utilized on transatlantic flights?

As of right now, all 41 757s have been reconfigured to the 16/159 or 16/156 configuration. No more 24 seaters on our 757-200s. Winglets and AVOD in B/F for the remaining few 757s should be completed by December. AVOD in coach is rumored to start next year.

Exactly. We still fly the 757 domestically and come December they all will be wingleted. So look for them coming to a city that gets the 757.

103 are now delivered yes. 101 are in service, Ships 503 and 504 are still in MCO on 'fleet induction' .. about a 10 day process each.

As of now 25 of 41 752s have the Winglets. The holdouts are Ships 101-104,107,120,121,123,127,129-133,135, and 138

Thanks for the info.... Now, I have this question, will the B757-200 stop flying domestically once they are configured more for international destinations? Or will they keep them flying domestic to certain markets? Because it seems CO is getting all their domestic 757 routes with B737s... Anyways, glad to see CO putting the winglets of the B757s, I love them!!!

Outstanding news, your MX department got it done fairly quickly.On another note IAHcsr do you know if the 757 will come back to BWI this winter,i believe we had 2 last winter, one 200 and one 300?.Thanks for the heads up!

Flight 366 to IAH is/was a B752 although that is coming to an end here with all the fall schedule changes.

No.
The -300s will be out of fleet by 2010. Some have already been retired.
There is no STC to install winglets on the -500s and I doubt CO would install them if the was an STC.

It took almost 2 years to retrofit the NG fleet.
It takes 4 days to install winglets on a/c that came with provisional wings, wings that were already reinforced from the factory to accommodate winglets.
It took 10 to 12 days to install winglets on non-provisional aircraft. We had to go into the wing and strengthen sections of it so the wing can support the weight of the winglets.
Aircraft built and delivered from 1998 to the beginning of 2001 were non-provisional. Aircraft delivered after 2001 were provisional.

We have resumed installing AVOD and in-seat power ports on the 752 fleet after a 2 month hiatus.
I have heard also that we, MCO MX, will be installing AVOD throughout coach next year. But I won't comment any further on this until we actually start doing them.

Definately not, the 757 will always be on domestic routes, if for nothing else but to keep utilization between euro runs--and I'm sure the BF product will be seen on EWR-LAX and IAH-LAX routes if nothing else. Then you'll always probably see a mix of the entire fleet on IAH-EWR.
What is the fall schedue looking like in terms of 757 and widebody usage? I know the 777 makes a reappearance on the IAH-EWR run.

This is nice to know. It was always a little difficult to distinguish the CO 737-800 from the CO 737-900 at a distance, but now if it's a long 737 with no winglets - it's got to be the -900.

The 752s rotate throughout the CO system......take a look at the EWR-Florida schedules and you will see many 752s assigned to those routes for capacity reasons and scheduling purposes. For years, EWR-FLL has been primarily operated with BF equipped 757s, for example, flying EWR-FLL-EWR-Europe or Europe-EWR-FLL-EWR on a typical rotation. When on domestic services, the BF section gets domestic F service, althought the AVOD features are nice as well as the extra leg room. Its interesting, before AVOD was added, the crews did not turn on the PTVs in BF on domestic runs, now they do.

The summer rush is calming down.....much work is to be done during the Sept/Oct slow travel period......the last two 752s will get BF, more winglets, and the BF AVOD installation are priorities.

Educated WAG (Wild Ass Guess): The two new 777's coming next year will both have AVOD, and then as the older ones get rotated out for their heavy maint, they'll come back into service with the new AVOD system as well.
I have no idea if I'm right, but if that's not the plan, I'd love to know why NOT. Seems like they have a great opportunity to introduce it with all the heavy maint schedules coming up for those birds...

EWRCabinCrew mentioned that all of the 757s now have the business first seating configurations of 16/156 or 16/159. The last 757 to get this, N14120, enters service tomorrow after the configuration change.
Interestingly, N48127, which was the next to last one to be re-configured, only recently flew it's first trans-Atlantic flight (COA64 EWR-LIS 28Aug)
