Boeing 777 Production Line Photos
Is there a site where recent photos of the 777 production line are posted? Over the next few months production is expected to start on AC 777s, at least I'm hoping it is...

Boeing gets a tiny bit upset when photos of the 777 line are posted on this (or any other) site; Royal S. King had one and it was removed after objections from Boeing's legal team (because they have nothing better to be doing with their time?); however, thankfully, it was allowed back into the database after whatever objection was sorted out.

While taking the tour at the Boeing plant, they told us the reason they did not want photos taken during the tour was because they didnt want people dropping thier cameras on the workers below. I thought they were a little sneaky, when they said they had nothing to hide and that photos would otherwise be welcome. Nothing cooler than production line photos of Boeing jetliners!!!!

You only get to see the 747 line on the Boeing factory tour, however they practice the "you break it you buy it" policy therefore no cameras.

Line 620, serial 35265 is the first ACA 777-333ER and reg will be C-FITL.

I did the factory tour back in June, and it was the 777 line we were shown - we only caught glimpses of the 747 line through the doors as we drove past. I'm pretty sure that's what the web site tells you to expect, too.

I'm pretty sure it's been the 777 line since around 2001. I've taken the tour twice since then and it's always the 777 line, not the 747 line. Used to be the 747 line, but not any more.

IIRC, the change from the 747 to 777 assembly line was more recent, around the time that the "Future of Flight Aviation Center" (Visitor/Tour Center) was opened late last year. I've been lucky to have had a couple of private tours of the factory in the past; however, I did accompany my nephews on a public tour in January 2004 and we were shown the 747 final assembly halls at that time.

So when I took the tour and it was the 777 line in November 2001, was that a one-off occurance at the time? I distinctly remember the tour guide stating that they had switched to the 777 line, as there's more activity than the 747 line.
Any ideas?

They are also in the final process of changing the 777 line (and possibly all lines) to a moving assembly line, similar to how an automobile is built. They explained on the tour that it had something to do with how inventory was taxed if it was just sitting, versus moving. They were also hoping that it would reduce delays.
I was told cameras were not allowed for obvious reasons, and there wasn't a lot to take photos of on the tour. We saw them building the 787 line (literally a hole in the floor) and a couple of 777's being built. Our tour guide also didn't know the difference between a 777 and a 747. While it might be more difficult to tell the difference between a 767 and a 777, a 747 stands on its own. I was actually slightly disappointed with the Boeing tour itself, although the museum facility was quite nice.

Some legal constraints in big companies are outrageous (im not saying that this one is.)
Heathrow has been described as the only building site to have its own airport.

What we were told was, not only could no cameras be taken on the tour, but ALL electronic devices were banned. That included cameras, video, cell phones, game boys, etc.
I had a rental car which had a keyless entry key fob. I asked the tour guide if I would have to leave that behind, and she told me that I could carry that with me.
In addition, we were told that there were sensors at the entrance to the assembly building that would detect any electronic device that we had on our person. If found, we would be escorted out of the building and returned to the tour center.

I was too. I thought it was too short and there was not enough details given by the guide (for an a.net geek) for my taste.
We did not get to see the new museum. It was under construction when we were there.

I also took the tour in 2005 and it was the 747 line. When I took the tour again in 2006 (after the FoF Museum Opened), the line had been moved to the 777 line (and, when in operation, the 787 line).
Course, neither tour held a candle to my Boeing Factory Floor Orientation tour in 2001 when we walked the entire building.
You get a new appreciation for just how big even a 767 is when you walk under her, to say nothing of a 777 or 747.

.....I was told years ago no cameras were allowed due to Boeing having Federal Gov't contracts and therefore, no cameras-electronics were allowed,period. But that didn't start till the 1990's, as I have several photos I took before that went into effect. Plus, the Espionage angle. Who better to sneak in and check out your factory than a seemingly innocuous tourist from........?

Bad Boeing..? they cut out the ramp tour after the Plant tour,,,after the FoF building was built, but trade off is, the OBS deck atop the building at FoF is WAY cool. But last June, the Tour was to the 777 side, when nothing was in there and I thought that was bad for $5.00US to go tour an empty building that should have at least one jet in it, for the tour......or have given us a flight-line tour in trade....they were 'pushing the 787' side.....like we're gonna buy one or sumthin'.............But, "if it ain't Boeing, I ain't going.."

Might sound like a lame question, but what is the average production time from start to finish for a T-7?? Don't believe AC's fleet has commenced production yet.
