Delta Interior Refurbishements - Current Status?

Tue Sep 05, 2006 3:34 am

Does anyone from Delta have updates on Delta's aircraft with the refurbished interior? Last time I heard last spring, 90% of the MD-88s have the refurbished interior, but many of them do not have the PSU and fluorescent signage updates. I have also heard that all of the MD-90s were done, and more than 50% of the 757s were done. There were also many 737-800s and domestic 767-300s done (I have flown on a domestic 767-300 with it), and eight international (ex-domestic) 767-300ERs with the new BusinessElite were done.

I would imagine that all of the MD-88s are now done, although many still don't have the PSU/fluorescent signage mods. Have any ex-Song aircraft been converted to two-class seating? Have any domestic 767-400ERs got the mod yet?

MD88s are done. Next mod will entail all new signage/lighting on the a/c that didn't receive it.

MD90s are done.

Just over 1/2 the 757 fleet is refurbed.

The first ex-song 757 is flying the line. Two more are undergoing refurb.

The first 763 (domestic) is now undergoing the PTV refurb.

No 764s have been done.

8 763ERs have been refurbed.
Some see lines, others see between the lines.

I keep hearing rumors that the PTV/VOD systems were presenting weight problems for the 767-300s... anyone know for sure whether the coach cabin is getting them? Seems that this would be needed for competitive reasons.

So what are they updating in the smaller aircrafts? I've seen the pictures for the seats on the bigger aircrafts

so whats the difference on the small jets?

New leather seats for all cabins on MD-88's and MD-90's as well as new signage and fake wood floors in the lavs.

All 757's going across the country will get PTV's in all cabins. All 757's will have new leather seats and signage and fake wood floors in the lavs. I think they said somewhere that if the 757's go atlantic, they will configure those with 16 BE seats.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

That is correct. The domestic 767-300s will be getting PTVs in economy, while Delta is in talks with Panasonic to try to reduce the weight of the system for the international 767-300ERs. The 777-200ERs and the eight international 767-400ERs, however, will be getting the new system in economy, and rumors state that the ex-TWA 757s will also get the system.

Bear in mind that this is all subject to change and some of these plans have indeed changed.

are they finally going to get rid of the plugs for the old "tube-style" IFE system? that faint noise from the IFE constantly present from someone who has his IFE on full volume is driving me crazy...  Angry

also, any chance they introduce something like United has with their "ATC-channel" on their IFE?

Actually, a correction on the MD88s ...

There is at least one bird in the fleet that hasn't been done ... I was on it, ORD-ATL, the friday before Labor Day weekend ...

It was actually quite a shock seeing it; the difference the new interiors makes was immediately apparent as it looked very dark and dismal inside by comparison.

The PSU units on the MD88's are only getting done during HMV. That is the most noticable part that is done during HMV. They are also redoing the sidewalls, ceilings, and bins. The change is a little brighter interior. These changes had to be put off until HMV do to the turn time on the interior.
