Does anyone have any update as to when the US Airways Philadelphia Eagles theme plane is scheduled to be finished? Preliminary reports say Sept. 15, however, it wasn't clear as to if that was when it was to go into the paint shop, or be finished. The aircraft to be used is N709UW. Exciting things are happening at the New US Airways!

N709UW is an A319. And there is nothing confirmed at this time as far as Carolina.

I thought I read a couple weeks ago that they decided to keep the old theme planes and do new ones such as the Eagles. Are they going to do away with the 757 theme planes and just re-paint more 319's in theme liveries?

I think what he meant was that a 757 seems to be the more appropriate tpye of airplane for a theme airplane, as it would seem that woul dbe the type of airplane the team would charter to away games. Has nothing to do with what is happening to the Cards and D-backs jets.

It's completely moot as the Eagles do not use US for their charters, though they do have a deal with them to be their "official airline" strictly for marketing purposes...in the past they've used NW, it looks like this season they have swapped to DL for charters...

And how is a special paint job "picking up?" I'd be trying to batten down them finances for the long run and worry about the details of the merger now that they're getting up and rolling with it, but hey, that's why I don't run an airline.

Clearly the best plane would have been a Five-Time Super Bowl Champs Steelers A319. So what if they don't have a hub in da burgh anymore. It would be kind of an apology for screwing over Pittsburgh and more people would obviously like it anyway, the Steelers having the largest fan base in the country, it could fly anywhere and be welcomed. Plus the Eagles suck.

Gee, I thought the Dallas Cowboys still had the largest fan base... I know the Tennessee Titans have the largest radio network. The Steelers are usually good, but they are by no means the national favorite. And besides, they only one last year because of the referee-ing.
And to keep this on topic, the plane should look nice... though I'd like to see someone do a Titans theme-plane, personally.
Make something Idiot-proof, and the Universe will make a more inept idiot.

I find this quite amusing, considering both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers are better than the Eagles. This is no shock from US though. Pittsburgh could win the Superbowl 30 times, and US still wouldn't notice.

I've seen pics of it. It will have a white fusalage on the top and say "US Airways" as the rest of the fleet, but will have a green belly that will make a swoosh up into the tail, where the eagle's head will be placed (and will take up much of the verticle stab). The Philadelphia Eagles logo will be forward just under the cockpit windows. And of course, the Heritage Logo to the right of the L1 door.

I was thinking mainly becasue CLT is where their biggest hub is, PHL is second.
