Can you get anything bigger than a G4 out of LGU? Maybe a completely empty 757...

Why do the colleges get such smaller planes when they have more players and stuff while the NFL teams get widebody's and stuff. It seems the price difference isn't that great when you consider that they likely have a completely full 737 (esepcially if they are putting all their gear nad stuff with them as well as other special equipment and obviously they can't have a ful lcargo bay with teh distance some of those 737s are flying. BTW i'm basing the prices thing off of this.

1) the schools have to pay for the plane.
2) the entire team does not go to away games, only the traveling squad, which is 45-60 players depending on what level the school plays.
3) not all NFL teams uses widebody's; several teams like Arizona, Seattle (of course the owners plane) uses 757's.

Northern Arizona is taking G4 #4224 from PHX to PIH for the game with Idaho State. Due to arrive at 1442MDT. I'm guessing PIH doesn't see much action from Allegiant.

4) The airport the team may fly out of or into may not be able to handle anything larger than say a DC-9 or 737.

A good example of this is AHN (Athens-Ben Epps Airport). In some cases, teams have to fly into ATL and then travel by bus to Athens. Some teams will use two smaller a/c. I remember back in 2000 when I worked for ASA, the University of Tennessee chartered two a/c to fly the team from TYS to AHN. They used an ATR-72 for the team, and a CRJ-200 for the coaches and other school officials.

Parked at BTL for the weekend. Found out why they don't send the 320 into AZO, they would have to weight restrict it for it's longest runway (6500'). Thats hard to do when you've got a plane full of big guys and all their equipment.

Wake Forest took a Pace 737-200 GSO-TUP for their game against Ole Miss.

UNC took a Delta 737-800 RDU-GSP for what is a slaughtering against Clemson (CU is up 49-0 in the 3rd right now). Good to know my tax dollars at work giving UNC a 737 when a bus would do fine (6 hour bus trip to Clemson from Chapel Hill; figure 30 minute bus trip to RDU from UNC, then 30 minutes to load the plane, 30 minute flight, 20 minutes to unload the plane, hour drive from GSP to Clemson makes it around a 3 hour trip...)

BC took a 737-800 from Miami Air BED-RDU. I'd assume the BC men's soccer team was also on that flight, as they were heading to play at Duke at the same time the football team is at State.

Washington State flew an F9 A319 PUW-SJC to go play Stanford. I missed their plane taking off but I did catch the Idaho F9 A319 as it took off for their PUW-EUG flight. It's so awesome to see those planes thundering down our little runway and then flying over the WSU campus! I think it stops everyone in their tracks because we're not used to anything bigger than a QX dash-8. The arrivals aren't on the schedule yet but I'll be checking to see when they're coming in so I can go catch them landing tonight!

Does anyone know who USC flys? They're coming up to Pullman next weekend, but I don't know if they'll fly in here or to GEG or LWS.

last time they came to WSU they flew into GEG on delta 757. That is when I was going to U I. PUW really just started getting these larger charters 3 years ago(ironically enough the year after the moscow-pullman airport authority said the q400 was "too loud" and barred it)
Other pac ten teams:
ASU and Arizona flew on HP/US into LWS
Oregon to GEG on DL

Penn State flew into KCMH on Friday Night as BSK656, then the aircraft ferried to DTW.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/BSK656

Then, an aircraft was ferried into KLCK on Sat Morning.

Taking Penn State to KSCE, but it looks like it diverted to KUNV.

Not sure why they used KLCK, It is a further drive, but maybe the cost was less or maybe noone could ground handle them at the time they needed.

To add insult to injury for Hawai'i (who Boise State beat 41-34), their originally scheduled charter back to HNL was supposed to leave Sat PM late, but the AQ 737 (N738AL) had a bird strike on t/o, returned to OAK, then had a mx issue. It finally arrived about 12:40pm MDT and is to leave near 2:00pm MDT. What a looong time in Boise for those guys.
