No dreaming here. People dream all the time for "New B6 Cities", or "DC-9 Replacements", and "IFE on Delta". A lot of their dreams don't come to reality, except for IFE on DL.

How about LH, the 787 order is placed on Boeing's books about the same time as LH announcing their order for Airbus aircraft this past week.

I congratulate Boeing on another excellent series of orders, and particularly on a very respectable order for the 787. I look forward to the first flight of the Dreamliner, which is truly well named, since it fulfills our dreams of a resurgent Boeing that lives up to the hopes of many for its return to full leadership in the field of aerospace.

Boeing is sometimes put in opposition to Airbus, as if the airliner business is only a zero-sum game, but personally, I think I speak for many when I express my hope to see the day when both the 787 and the A380 can grace the skies and bring people closer together in friendship, commerce, and peace.

ILFC or General Electric.....my guess..

My guess on the B787 BBJ's...A couple of very wealthy mideastern (U.A.E., Kuwait, Qatar) sultans/kings for personal travel to get into those "small, tight and unimproved strips"...

See, the people at Boeing have their act together and actually accomplish things. By that I mean there aren't any serious design flaws that create delays in production. Airbus just wants to make planes quickly and make more planes than Boeing. That's the problem with the A380.

I got a cavity reading this! Jeez! Great sentiment though, and I have to agree -- can't wait to see both birds take to the skies (with paying customers).

Interesting. Have you a reference to this, or will it just appear fairly shortly on the Boeing Orders page?

From the other thread.....

"A private shareholder of eastern Europe's largest airline said he has signed a deal with Boeing to reserve 22 of the 787s for Aeroflot after the airline's board recently postponed a decision to order the plane."

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/285727_boeingaeroflot20.html

"Someone in the Boeing orders topic claims that he knows for who 5 of these 16 are. Suggesting that these 16 are not for one customer. Take it for what it's worth, but that leaves another 11 aircraft. Perhaps Aeroflot decided to order 11 firm and 11 options,"

According to dradio.de in germany ( see german article below) it is ONE customer which ordered 47 airplanes. No name about the customer, but i assume if a BBj is included in the order and the figures about 16 B787, 30 B737 and one BBJ are correct, i looks like Saudi Arabian to me. Maybe i am wrong!

Or Aeroflot is taking the Boeing half of 22 787s/350s, unless they're looking into buying 44 in total (22 from A, 22 from B).

-Will

Aeroflot is going to purchase 22 from EACH. So, yes, a total of 44 aircraft.

it is too tempting not to inquire. I can't disclose who per sae, signed a bunch of paper work that said i wouldn't. what i can say is that it's not an operator and they were in the news recently. as to how i know, well, i work for um.

Come on guys, he's already told us he works for Air Zimbabwe in a round about way - as if we were to think he wasn't telling us "i work for um." ... lol.  Big grin

I am willing to bet the 16 787 are for northwest. They had a ton of options and in the ardical it said the orders were for 2008. NW probally did not want there name on them yet.
