Just because you 'think' you know more than him (and I'll admit that a plane turning onto the runway at the outer marker might be considered very incorrect), it's certainly no means for you to hop on here and criticize him for showing us what sort of an effect an aborted takeoff has on passengers, and indeed aircraft.

It sure as hell beats the video of the RC Deutsch aircraft bouncing down the runway - I'm sure you thought that was real once upon a time. That's what experiencing things is all about.

Poor guy-- came here probably hoping to gain fame and glory with all his knowledge only to be knocked down with 150 posts of whoop-ass.

Pretty neat to see an aborted takeoff from a passenger's perspective. Granted his infromation was ridiculously incorrect. I sure wish I could tell V1 and Vr speeds by looking out a window. Aside from the inaccuracies, a good video if you fast forward to the takeoff and mute your computer.

On a side note, that is one of the most melancholy and dreary safety presentations. Sounds like they are in a dungeon. Never listened to a safety demo being presented in that kind of grave voice.

I actually saw his thread last week but his link didn't work for me, thanks for posting this new one. I really didn't see why everyone was so resentful and angry at him on the first thread and I was really curious to see the video. Upon seeing the first 8 minutes or so I had to close the window to calm myself down. The commentary is so moronic and the guy is so full of himself that the video as a whole is an extremely irritating experience. If I HAD been sitting next to the guy I think I would have seriously asked him to just shut the crap up. "5 seconds away from VR..." what does he have a speedometer augmented into his brain or something, along with an FMCto calculate the V speeds? What an idiot. I do admit watching the actual abort was extremely interesting, just wish that was ALL he had posted. Then noone would have said anything.

Yea that impressed me as well, while I won't make any "expert" comments about the speed at the time of the abort, you can tell just by the time that the plane was significantly into it's takeoff roll and it stopped with some runway to spare - very impressive! Must've been a hell of a strain on the passengers' seatbelts. =D
By the way, perhaps someone could tell me, is RTO the highest setting on the autobrake selector or is it MAX?

This is just an aborted take off, for whatever reason, just like it happens several time everyday, everywhere in the world with all and every airline.

It is just obvious to me, considering his comments, that this guy is in fact simply AFFRAID OF FLYING !!!!

Yeah its pretty simple.. The pilot taxi his plane to the outher marker, makes a left turn on the runway, put his right foot on the gas.
Ah, why not abort a heavy loaded 767 after V1, that would make sence.

Anyway, does anybody have more info about the aborted takeoff? I just don't beleve they aborted because of another plane on the runway..

you hear alot of rumbling etc and the camera begins bouncin everywhere? Is that obviously when the tires went? Thena few seconds later you hear the reverse T.?

I searched Aborted takeoff video, twat, twit etc but found nothing so I posted this topic.

As for the "Aseana" crossing the runway.. its Kansai and there is only one bloody runway that you CAN'T cross.

Another error: in the break sequence, "Full flaps, "Speed Brakes" in Pilot speaks"
Flaps is NOT the same as speed brakes, try extending them at near stall speed and see for yourself matey Big grin

Other than that I think the video is a bit too long, but I liked it, so maybe I'm a moron too Smile

Ok, so I've only had an aborted takeoff once, and it was due to birds (not an actual strike though). So why did they abort? Do we know? I'm not completely sure, but there's no way that plane was taxiing with 4 blown tires, the tires burst due to the braking, right?

As far as I know, MAX on Airbus, RTO on Boeings. I have no idea what you find on other types.

Our creep meant that when there was a person sitting in the seat left to him (the F seat, assuming AB CDE FG numbering in this 767) he would have crushed/squeezed his or her hand during all the stress this freaking event unleashed in him. Glad he wasn't the pilot Big grin
