BA's 744's In YYZ?

Wed Sep 27, 2006 7:38 am

Hey, I did a semi-thorough search on the topic and could find little or no info pertaining to my
question.

What's happening to BA's 744 situation in YYZ? Are they cutting back and/or switching to the
772's and 763's?
The reason I ask this is I'm planning to get on my first 747 flight this March break. Looking at most
of the options YYZ-LHR Via BA looks to be the easiest and cheapest option. However I'm not about to run out any buy my ticket, as I'm not entirely sure this route will be flown by a 744 in March. The dates I chose were the 13th and 20th as it looks like every Tues. BA schedules a 747 in March.
I also checked with KLM and it appears they are switching to the 777 in 2007 for their YYZ
flights.

So my question(s) is(are): What's BA scheduling on the YYZ-LHR route? And if I do choose the
dates March 23th and 20th where a 744's scheduled, what's the chances it's going to get changed in
the future?
Also is there an easier way to get on a 747 flight starting from YYZ and say trying to get on a UA 747
on the ORD-LAX route?

Thanks
Cal

Thanks Alex, that's what I got too.
Does anyone know why BA is changing their equipment to YYZ? Not enough seats to fill? Landing Fees?
Hopefully they continue to fly the 744 to YYZ so I can get on my first 747 flight.

I sincerely hope they will. I've been on a BA 744 last week (LHR-YVR and back) , it was also my first 747 experience and had my best trans-atlantic flight so far. The aircraft is really huge and take-offs are a unique experience. On the flight back a/c was completely full and it took 45 seconds to get airborne! BA also is a very good airliner and I really do hope you could fly soon on that beautiful bird!

Ciao

YYZ makes good money and is usually full, but the 747 can be better deployed in the UK-India market. Simple as that! The premium demand to YYZ is lower than it is to DEL/BOM/CCU. Hence the use of the 3-class 777 and 3 class 763 to YYZ, both with M/W/J cabins and no F.
