Hood Blimp Crashed Outside Of Boston!

Wed Sep 27, 2006 8:12 am

Hey guys,

According to the Boston Globe, the hood blimp crashed earlier today. Sounds like everything is alright after the pilot lost rudder control around 1 pm today over Manchester-By-The-Sea, Massachusetts. If anyone has any more info, please post!

Well thankfully the pilot was not injured. According to the article though, it's extremely rare for a fatality to occur involving a blimp accident. Is this true?

According to Chandler Bing, one person a year dies from a blimp accident.  Wink

I saw video and pictures, and the word 'crashed' is another in a long line of sensationalistic descriptors the 'media' uses. The thing look like it gently settled atop a cushy bed of fluffy trees  Smile

Reports that I saw on the local TV news said that the pilot, the only one aboard, lost rudder control and rather than drift out over the ocean, he somehow caused the craft to settle into the trees. The local fire departments had to get him down from the cab. This is the blimp that was a fixture over almost every Red Sox home game at Fenway Park.
