Question About People Express 747s

Sat Oct 07, 2006 12:45 am

People Express operated nine secondhand 747s when they experienced financial problems and were absorbed into Continental Airlines. These aircraft were registered N602PE up to N610PE. There are no pictures around showing the last two. N609PE and N610PE were bought just a few months before the merger.

My question is, were they ever painted in People Express colours, or did they wear Continental dress from the beginning? That seems likely to me, as these two also never wore the hybrid scheme most of the others did. Instead there are pictures of 9 and 10 already from 1997 in full Continental livery.

It was People Express on paper, but marketed as PeoplExpress. Legally, it was People Express.

607PE-610PE were Boeing trade ins from QF. 609PE and 610PE never operated as PE aircraft but we robbed parts from the two birds when a plane needed something in LAX.

Quoting N747PE (Reply 4):

Thanks a lot. So these to birds never wore the PE-scheme, right?

609 and 610 were never painted in PE colors but if they behaved anything like their sisters, 607 and 608, they would have been a welcomed addition to the fleet
