I like the new colours...I thought the shiny metal look made the planes look too much like AA....now if they can only bring a few to SFO cloudnine

Honestly I think the new livery looks better on the 737-700 and -800 then it does on the 777-200.

Oh dear, another instantly forgettable livery. Totally bland and waffly with a wavey bit here and a squiggle there - pathetic. The silver scheme was beautiful. Such a shame to ditch it.

This scheme looks much better on a widebody than on the 737's. But yeah, compared to the metal finish livery, this is quite blah.

I'm so sad about that, it looks terrible!!! Looks like a cool charter but not like a serious airline! Thought it makes the 777 look like some fat airplane :S

I was wondering just the same. My best guess is that the owner (which is not AM) gets a better deal painting the aircraft in China rather than the USA or Mexico.

I totally agree. I had fallen in love with the former livery. It was amongst the most beautiful of all airlines.

At first I hated the new livery but I have to accept that it doesn´t look that bad on the T7...but I really do not like it at all on the 737

I waaaaaaaay highly prefer it on the B777 than the B737. Also this livery will look very smart on the MD80s and B767s!!! Good pictures about to come!!!

Hello, the two existing 772ERs already fly to MAD, CDG and GRU. There is a lot of demand in these routes and the 767ER's were insufficient. With ex-PPVRA, AM will add 2x weekly MEX-TIJ-NRT-TIJ-MEX. Eventually you will see more European destinations. What, you think AM should only fly short and medium haul routes with narrowbodies?

Um, the same places that other airlines fly long haul aircraft, on long haul flights. That would be over the pond and now over the pacific.

Nope, they haven't and they won't. LA won't go for a carrier they can't control. Under Mexican law, the most they could own is 25% of the voting (common) stock of AM plus a number of non-voting shares to be authorized by our foreign investments watchdog. In addition, AM's liabilities (including long-term ones like pension plan liabilities) make it quite unattractive to a group like LA. The government, who owns the majority of the stock of AM indirectly through the deposit insurance agency, is wondering with the help of an investment bank whether it should sell all or part of the shares of the company to an investor or group of investors, or to exit (partially) via a public offering. Since the next administration will be headed by a pro-market President, there is no pressure to sell now.

Guess you missed the multiple threads about MEX-TIJ-NRT.(well someplace in Japan)

I guess AM is going to use these twice a week to Japan and then will use them to Europe. I think they might even use them on the MEX-Brazil legs to connect pax from Japan.

Hmm both have a fancy tail, AM being more classic, and the airline's name on the fuselage. However at least AM has a wavy thing going on. I think it bit fancier than MX. Big grin

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Since the 787 can't be "polished aluminum" in appearance (since there's no aluminum fuselage) paint is the only option. I wondered what AA and AeroMexico would do -- now we know.

Wonder what AA's livery will look like when (if) they order 787s to replace those aging 767-200 and 300 planes. Anyone want to venture a guess?

Why that front swing in red? Totally unnecessary and brand confusing to add an extra colour. Would have been better when the front swing had the same mid blue as the little mid-blue rear swing. The overall livery has too much white, they could have done something with the belly.The new Aero Mexico livery is like a ripp off mix of the previous Lan Chile and the new Lan Chile livery. No, this is a poor performance, they could have make more of it.

All of us have and will always prefer the old AM livery. But quite frankly, this one doesn't look that bad.

BTW, which one of the 3 777's will AM use for NRT flights?

First of all.. WHY did I get a virus with the pop-up that automatically tries to appear after I clicked one of the above MyAviation pics? Luckily the Norton antivirus caught it.

WHATS UP with this?! I payed for my membership here, so since we don't pay for myaviation we're gonna get pop-ups with viruses?

Back to the topic at hand:

I doubt any serious brand agency would combine a red "snake" with a fuselage/tail pattern that are so obviously similar to past and current LANChile liveries.

This new colorscheme makes their 737's look absolutely horrendous, although to be fair, it does't look as bad on the 777. This "indian chasing the snake" look shouldn't last too long.

This paintscheme is so boring staring at it can have the magical effect of making you zzz

. It's sort of like that music you put on when you can't fall asleep. If your stereo breaks, an Aeromexico poster would do the job wonderfully.

By the way, why is this plane all the way in Guangzhou China? Does the leasing company (seeing the Viva Macau 767 is ex AM) sends the planes there for maintenance? Cheaper $$ maybe?

When Asiana´s new livery is a small step backwards, this is a huge jump right into the middle of the trash-bin.
The last livery was just great, this new one is just too sad to be believed, crying "me too" all over, looking cheap, the worst livery aeromexico ever had in its history. A little bit of Lan (who did it better though also there the late 90s livery was better), a liitle bit of Varig, a little bit of everything - and nothing right. It would have helped a bit they would have used their classic colout, a deep orange, instead of the generic bla-blue. But even that they ignored. Another fleet to be white-washed, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

AM changed their colors from the bare-metal to this new livery in preparation for the 787 Dreamliner. That composite fuselage cannot be left bare, so they are changing the colors - that is why the bare has got to be covered up.

And this new livery is not bad. It could be a lot worse - see Mexicana, DL wavy gravy, canyon blue WN, etc.

Agree with the last part, Mexicanas livery is so bland it looks like a cheap interim scheme. If a Mexican airline needs a new livery, its not Aeromexico, its Mexicana!

I disagree, this new Aero Mexico aircraft paint design IS a bad livery. Despite the nice and proven Aero Mexico logo they didn't go to a professional aircraft livery specializing design team for a well balanced basic livery.
