PARIS, Oct 17 (Reuters) - German low-cost airline Blue Wings has confirmed an order for 20 Airbus (EAD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) single-aisle A320-family aircraft, Airbus said on Tuesday.

The deal, worth $1.4 billion at list prices, was first announced at the Farnborough air show in July.

Duesseldorf-based Blue Wings operates scheduled and charter flights to Turkey and the former Soviet Union.

It is 48-percent owned by Swiss-based Alpstream, an affiliate of the Russian National Reserve Corporation.

Q4 and they've announced 1 new order and 1 pending order

Airbus are booking their pending order, as per usual, in the second half of the year.

That takes Airbus up to 66 frames for october, not counting any yet to be finalised. This leaves approximatley 289 LoI/Mou to be confirmed. Not counting contracts under negotiation. IMO Airbus will sell more than the 77 frames than they sold in October 2005.

That's better, month where the backlog is being increased!

Do we know where they're up to for the year now - 420 being the maginc number to beat the year's production - obviously this does concede the year to B but the picture's looking a bit better.

Actually thinking about it does the last week put A back ahead of B in the backlog stakes?

Once again this is very good news for Airbus. Thank you for sharing the info with us PanAm_DC10. We can always count on you to keep us up to date with whats happening with orders.

I just have one question. You mention that Airbus has booked 66 orders in October.

LH 30x A32X + 5x A333
Blue Wings 20x A32X
Tiger Airways 8x A32X

Total: 63 frames.

Who are the other 3 frames for?

On a side note. I wish to point out to Nav20 that with these orders the A32X line is nearly sold out for an additional two months.

Regards,
Wings

No, Boeing would still lead slightly in numbers, and by a wide margin in value.

Airbus' problem remains in the wide-body market where they are getting very few orders compared to Boeing.

Airbus does have a slight backlog lead, however, in the narrow-body segment.

Just to refresh your mind, at the end of September total backlog stood at Airbus 2061 and Boeing 2237. In narrow-bodies, Airbus led by 1575 to 1449, whereas in the wide-body segment Boeing led by 788 to 486.

In total backlog value Boeing led by $169 Billion to $138 Billion.
