New LGW Services

Tue Oct 24, 2006 4:59 am

Hey there!

I have recently found out many proposed new services to LGW aswell as a couple of one off visits, for the LGW regulars out there.

I'm not sure what the clearest way to set this out is, but here goes! Please note that all times are approximations.

Oasis Hong Kong begin on the 25/10/06 with a 5x weekly 744, due in early morning and leaving mid afternoon I believe?

Vueling begin on the 29/10/06 with a 3x daily A320.

  • 0745 VLG6886
  • 1345 VLG6888
  • 1845 VLG6890

Europe Air Post have two one off 737 flights, 26/12/06 and 28/12/06 only. These will arrive around 1425 as FPO1106.

Austrian Arrows begin on the 23/12/06 saturdays only. They will fly a DHC-8-Q400 at 1640 as OS2357.

Aeroflot begin with a A320, 4x weekly (Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu) as SU239 on 30/10/06. These will be due in at 0830.

Aegean Airlines begin a 2x daily service with RJ100's on 29/10/06.

  • 1020 A3 960
  • 1900 A3 692

Iberworld have night flights on various days, at around 0110.

Air Italy begin with 757's and 767's on 29/10/06 at 0730. They will be known as I9 202. This service is from the 29'th until 29/12/06 only.

Air Madrid begin with A319's CRJ's and EMB's on the 30/10/06. They will arrive at 1030 as DRD 3811. These will be 2x daily.

Norwegian Shuttle are applying for slots, although this is unlikely to result in anything due to their increase of STN services.

TAAG Angola are due to begin 8/11/06 with an arrival at 2100 on Wednesdays only. I can only imagine this service will be with their new B772's?

Air Tahiti Nui have a one-off service on the 12/11/06 at 1505. It will be known as TN721.

Carpatair begin a F100 service on the 30/10/06 at 0930.

Transavia are back at 0710 as HV6601 2x daily. Sorry, no begin date!

That's it for now. I think that just about makes up for the NWA DC10 retirement! For those of you that don't know, her last flight is this saturday!

Thanks!

This is great information if its true, but you havnt actually told us where these airlines are flying to!

Although I can guess most of them, it would be nice if you could finish the post off!

Thanks.

Good news, but would like to know the same as you.

Another significant new flight to LGW is DL's JFK-LGW. While DL is not new to LGW, they are now flying from New York, so that is an interesting development.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

Also note that the route will go double daily in 2007. Surprisingly it was announced before the first flight even had started  Smile There are also plans to go third daily, I hope so anyway  Smile

Any idea why the one-off TN flight to LGW?

A lot of this isn't correct! Not sure where the info has come from, but it is not accurate.

Oasis Hong Kong - yes, starts 31Oct (Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun). Most days will arrive 0620 and depart 2010 but schedules vary during November when I guess they only have one aircraft in service. Moves up to daily at 0620 - 2010 from 25 November.

Vueling - not correct - no services to LGW this winter.

Europe Air Post - correct, cruise ship changeover between Christmas and New Year.

Austrian Arrows - yes, they have done the Bolzano charter for a couple of years now.

Aeroflot - not correct, not starting LGW this winter

Aegean - not true - only LGW-ATH flights this winter are EZY and Olympic

Iberworld - have two ad-hoc flights to Tenerife at February half-term in the middle of the night

Air Italy - May start LGW-MXP, still not confirmed yet

Air Madrid - yes, starting a ONCE daily service in the afternoon

Norwegian - don't think they have even applied for slots this time around

TAAG - not true

Air Tahiti Nui - not sure but don't think this is accurate

Carpatair - not happening

Transavia - had slots but gave them back, staying at STN.

I don't know where this list has come from, but it seems to be someone's wish-list combined with a few real flights rather than a true reflection of winter at LGW. It's nowhere near that exciting.

PS - last Northwest DC10 flight is actually on Sunday - NW43/44 this Sunday (29th) is a DC10 and then it changes to an A330 from Monday.

0745 VLG6886

1345 VLG6888

1845 VLG6890

Since they have no flight to LGW on sale I dont think they will be starting on Saturday. Sounds like they applied for slots but either didnt get them or have decided not to use them

Quoting TupolevTu154 (Thread starter):
Aeroflot begin with a A320, 4x weekly (Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu) as SU239 on 30/10/06. These will be due in at 0830.

Again nothing announced so sounds like a slot application

Quoting TupolevTu154 (Thread starter):
Carpatair begin a F100 service on the 30/10/06 at 0930.

Both of these also sound like slot applications as neither airlines have announced anything

Quoting TupolevTu154 (Thread starter):

Is that the RTM service moved from STN?

Quoting TupolevTu154 (Thread starter):
Austrian Arrows begin on the 23/12/06 saturdays only. They will fly a DHC-8-Q400 at 1640 as OS2357.

Is that from Bolzano (charter on behalf of Inghams)?

Another new route for LGW is ARN with Sterling 6xWeekly starting next March while I think Centralwings start Wroclaw next week

Delta from JFK to LGW, how dynamic has change been for DL at its JFK Gateway ? Now flying one, soon to be two, and by this time next year probably 3 767 daily. London is and has been the missing link in the change.

London itself is not the missing link, DL has served LGW from ATL, CVG, JFK & at one time BOS for years and years. The missing link is LHR, they have wanted slots at LHR for years and years.

It isn't accurate. TN has no slots at LGW for W06.

Indeed a slot application 0830/0930 that appears to be U coded for WA.

No, DL has never served LGW-JFK. It never had the authority for LON-NYC service, hence the US$13 million to UA for the route authority.

What's even more 'dynamic' is that as recently as the first quarter this year, DL has had NO nonstop flights between its JFK hub and the UK and Ireland for years. By summer 2007, there will be a total of 5 daily flights (2x daily JFK-LGW, 1x JFK-MAN, 1x JFK-DUB, 1x JFK-SNN)

On the subject of LGW, does anyone know if Ghana International is carrying on with its 757 operations this winter or was the rumour of a 767-300 ever found to be accurate? There seem to be all sorts of strange goings-on with Ryan's fleet disposition at the moment although the GIA aircraft keeps trundling up and down.

You can expect to see the 757 operating as usual for the first part of the winter season, with the likelihood of an upgrade later in the season.
