Thu Oct 26, 2006 5:13 pm

G'day All.

Just a quick question & forgive me if it has been asked a million times.....

What routes are KLM using the F50 on at the moment???.. I would love to plan a flight with a KLM F50 sometime next year..

Kind Regards,

Will.............

AMS-MST
AMS-LCY
AMS-DUS
AMS-BRU
AMS-BRE
AMS-LUX
AMS-NWI (mixed with F70)
AMS-HUY (mixed with F70)
AMS-CGN
AMS-HAJ (mixed with F70)

This must be more or less it.
Corrections welcome.

AMS-BRU is also mixed with F70. If you want you can fly with VLM airlines (a Belgian carrier), they have flights from AMS To London city ( and they have only F50s in their fleet).

RTM-LHR is also an KLM F50 route as is EIN-LHR.

If it is the F50 you are interested in, I would also recommend VLM airlines. I use them regularly between RTM-LCY and they are reasonably priced with a great all round service.
It is better to travel hopefully.............but, always be prepared for the worst!

I'd say choose VLM if you opt for a o/w or return trip, not connected to your flight. Use KLM if you want to connect it to another route, as will it will be ticketed as add-on fare, which is obviously a lot cheaper than buying two separate tickets.
E.g. LHR-AMS-MST is obviously cheaper than LHR-AMS plus AMS-MST.

3 Daily flights are Fokker 70 with a new weekday only flight from the winter timetable being a Fokker 50

With only 8 pure Fokker 50 routes and a handful of mixed Fokker 50/70 routes, I wonder how they keep a fleet of 15 or so Fokker 50 busy ?

AMS-BRE

used to be mixed with the F70, not sure if it is still the case. The last flight that did a full AMS-BRE-AMS (no nightstop) used to be the F70

I can vouch for AMS-DUS being F50, I flew that route earlier this year. That was the first time I had flown on an F50 - quite a good plane.

CWL has seen F50s in the past but now the route is mainly served by F100s with occasional F70s.

Why don't you get yourself a ride in an original 1958 F27, first production and oldest flying around.
Or did you do so already as after all we got this A/C from Australia.

They already need, in the morning, 3 F50s for AMS-LCY, 1 for RTM - LHR, 1 for EIN - LHR, 2 for AMS - DUS, 2 for AMS - BRU, thus these five destinations already take up 9 F50s. CGN. MST and BRE also require a F50 in the morning coming to at least 12 F50s operating from 07:00 - 09:30)

RTM-LHR is also an KLM F50 route as is EIN-LHR.

They are the only scheduled prop-jet flights at LHR:
KL1331 RTM-LHR (a 0715 1,2,3,4,5,6)
KL0991 EIN-LHR (a. 0730 1,2,3,4,5)
KL1332 LHR-RTM (d. 0750 1,2,3,4,5,6)
KL0992 LHR-EIN (d. 0805 1,2,3,4,5)
KL1337 RTM-LHR (a.1615 1,2,3,4,5,7)
KL1338 LHR-RTM (d. 1700 1,2,3.4,5,7
KL0995 EIN-LHR (a. 1755 1,2,3,4,5)
KL0996 LHR-EIN (d. 1830 1,2,3,4.5)
KL1339 RTM-LHR (a. 2015 1,2,3.4.5.7)

You should look at the KLM maintenance area! some times you just see 6 F-50's in a row, without counting the planes inside the hangars. They are actually not that bussy occupied on regular routes, but its the only plane KLM leases out, so from time to time they are bussy with charter flights.

Those serving LHR from EIN and RTM do not appear to be utilised regularly between 1000 and 1600 hours. And I am not sure they are used at all on Saturdays.

I just got off a KL Fokker 50 (KL 1749) tonight which is the AMS - LUX flight. I fly KLM quite a bit and usually all of the 3 daily flights are quite full. As for tonight, the usual KL delays have been going on plus unfortunately there was a fuse that broke causing the water boiler to fail so we had to wait for catering to bring us hot water for the coffee, no love for these delays at KL. Is it me or does KL suffer many departure delays on its scheduled flights? Too bad LG doesn't fly to AMS cause I would love them to fly the ERJ's out there.

Cheers,

Kris.

G'day Aviopic,

I think that in picture F27 is ex-VH-NLS... If that being the case, I have had a moment when working down at Hobart Airport, of servicing and turning that very aircraft around. From memory she was doing tourist flight around Australia and I think it was about 1997. I did not have a clue what I was doing and the crew were very helpful.

As for flying on a F27.. I have had the honour of a few rides many years ago now, mostly on East West Airlines F27's.. Don't re-call the rego's of the aircraft since I was a young boy at the time. I have also manage to work on quiet extensively during my first year as a Apprentice on VH-MMS. An old Ansett F27 seeing here last overhaul before being sold to another land...

I worked on many of the Ansett F50's.. Millions of hours it seems, but sadly never got around to organising a ride...

Maybe next year with KLM...  Cool

Kind Regards and many thanks to all...  bigthumbsup

Will.....  Smile

Due to lack of crew.
Which is why they have to lease frame plus crew from others.

So we had some kind of a relation
Me fixing the parts you guys needed and of course now it is me working on that same A/C.
You will be surprised compared to a F27 flight, it's very quite.
