heh, I don't wish bad upon any company, because that affects the lives of tons of people. But there is no way this can even be remotely successful. Americans love low fares, but I don't think Americans are willing to put up with Ryanair level of comfort in the aircraft. Just because it has 150 seats, doesn't mean its going to be more comfortable then an RJ. I'd assume we can expect plastic seats and the whole lack of 9 yards on the inside.

Well, the livery's an improvement over what they had on their website before. It's better than Southwest's, although that might qualify as damning with faint praise... 
I'm not sure that the ultra-low-fare concept won't play in the US, I just have strong doubts about starting it in a city with a relatively small O&D market.

They should have opted for the A319's with two over wing emergency evacuation exits. They could have then added an extra row of seats in, like easyJet in the UK do to squeeze in 156 seats!
Not too sure what to think of the new livery, but all can say is... Its different and very bright! (Some one pass me a sick bag... Im not feling to good!

Taste is a funny thing. I am here reading comments like refreshing, nice, different etc.
I agree different it is, refreshing and nice I am not so sure about. It's just weird. But in an effort to get away from the 'eurowhites' Skybus gets some point.
Now lets see how success plays out for them.

Very, very cool. I mean with all the new airline logos and paintschemes that lack personality and real style, saying a logo looks very '70's is a compliment. Retro is in baby!

actually at LAS, when the sun is setting, the brown and canyon blue look nice overpowering the red bottom... back to skybus, i like it alot. its pretty different and unique. i like it because they actually had the guts to paint a plane bright orange and colors of the like.

Oh I like retro myself... How about all of that stuff from the 70s and 80s becomming popular again... Carebears? My Little Pony? RAINBOW BRIGHT??? (not that I ever played with that stuff. I am sure some boys have, with the addition of bottle rockets... Even they had some psychological disorder and required some help if they did stuff like that to anyone. I just did that to empty pop cans and watched them jump 4 feet in the air.)
Anyway... yeah... groovy. I still like the old USAir livery from the early 80s though. Inspite of the fact that it was orange red and brown... That stuff was in back in the 70s man! DIG IT?

M-The change to the A319s occured about 3 weeks ago when they signed a deal with Airbus for 65 of them. The 737-800 was supposed to be the airplane of choice, based on the press photo that was sent out when the airline was first being developed.
Now, more importantly, noting the fleet number of 521 on the nose gear, dare I say that the first Virgin America A319 has already been repainted as their first one was N521VA? Sigh, another lost A319 not shot on slide film...
Color scheme aside, Skybus may be a very interesting airline if they adopt the Ryanair game plan that I think they're going towards, based on the number of execs from the Ireland airline heading to CMH.

I think they dropped thinner on the PSA A319 and it made it run all over the place. And they just added the butterfly when they saw it!
I wonder if GYY will see this service here as well as the other airline operated by Xtra Airways.

According to the A318/319/320/321 Type Certificate Data Sheet (A28NM) the A319's maximum number of passengers is 145. Any idea how they plain to get 150 certified?

well, I'm not too familiar with U.S. airports, but Ryanair is certainly in choosing tertiary markets and labelling them as primary... so for instance they are going to HHN (which is about 2 hours by bus from FRA) and call it "Frankfurt", to Lübeck and call it "Hamburg" (distance about 100km), to Treviso and call that "Venice", to NRN and call it "Düsseldorf" and so on.... it started all with claiming STN to be a London airport, I guess... they also have been notorious of not caring for their customers at all in case of a cancelled flight and abandon them to their fate... don't know if that has changed with the new EU regulations in force (I never flew them personally and hopefully never will).
compared with your examples it seems to be like going to BTR and calling that "New Orleans", to Idaho Falls and claiming it to be Salt Lake City or somewhere around Albany, NY, instead of New York City.

They did get one thing right...their name: Skybus. A 150 seat 319 will be about like sitting in a bus in the sky.
