NW DC10s Still In Service

Can anyone confirm if these aircraft remain in service:

N225NW (red)
N226NW (silver)
N237NW (red)
N240NW (silver)

Or are others still flying

Dunno about NW but....

I believe Biman Bangladesh are still flying DC10's

N225 and 226NW are no longer in service. I believe only N234, 237, and 240NW remain. N226NW will be ATA's first DC-10 as N701TZ which will be headed to SAT for heavy maintenance in about 2 weeks.

The N240NW has been in Amsterdam recently transporting soldiers towards Kuwait.
So iso of the old B742's we are seeing now the DC10's again.

Don't know the tail number, but on 11/27 I saw a silver DC-10 in HNL doing the MSP flight.

Northwest Has 3 DC-10's Left in Service

Im not sure what the registration numbers are but i know that one is flying HNL-MSP through March and the other 2 are flying football charters until the season is over

AF21, 4 till Dec 10/12 when 240NW will head to a charter operator . HNL / MSP is over around Jan 8 th.

That is very interesting to find out. This was the a/c I flew on MEM-AMS during my round the world trip a couple of months back. The trip report will come eventually. Nice to know this a/c will get a 3rd life with TZ, but a pity it will be at the expense of an L1011 or two.

I didn't realize how soon they are all being retired... I guess my last time seeing one was the old colors DC10 I saw at a terminal at MIA early on the morning of november 25th, there for a charter... sad. When was the last 742 withdrawn from service?

The 742 has not been withdrawn from service. The fex pax variants that are left serve NRT-GUM/SPN. That only takes 2 frames, but there must be one in NRT as a spare. Of course, the 742s freighters still cross the Pacific everyday.

So do NW742 pilots get to fly both Cargo and PAX from NRT? Because flying NRT-GUM and NRT-SPN everyday must get a little bit boring.
When does NW plan on retiring these 742s and what might replace them on the NRT-GUM/SPN flights? 757 or 744?

The 742 pilots fly both cargo sectors as well as pax sectors. They say the cargo sectors are the best! Not to sure when they'll be retired, but I'm sure NWA is planning something.

Good point about it coming at the expense of the L1011, which are a lot more rare than the DC10s these days. In a perfect world TZ would operate both in scheduled service like Pan Am circa early 80's.

No problem Filejw, it was one the last 5 or 10 out of nearly 400 to ever come off the line back in 1988.

N240NW is the 438th DC-10/KC-10A off the line of a total of 446. Was origininally delivered as HS-TMC.

Ok, back to the original post....Trying to keep this topic alive until I fly on the retirement flight on Jan 7th...I am trying to figure out which plane will make the last NWA scheduled DC-10 flight on Jan 7..any guesses?

I think its a bit early to know. Even NW doesn't know which aircraft will operate it this far out. It will be either N234NW and N237NW.

I see two NW DC-1O's will be in HNL tonight, besides #99 its looks like #9840 is enroute to pick up the Arizona State Football team after tomorrows bowl game, which means perhaps late tomorrow evening or early on Christmas morning might be the last visit of an active NW DC-10 to PHX.
