B767-400 Training Begins

Thu Jul 13, 2000 11:29 pm

Well we have begun training at CO for the B767-400, and B767-200. The FAA has approved a transition between the B757 to the two new 76's.

I have recived 2 CD ROM's for home application. Because the B767 is new to CO we will work from the position of learning the -200, then the -400. Now so everyone knows, when we at CO qualified on the B757 we also trained on the B767 computer based class, so we have seen the airplane systems, and are typed in the airplane.

To accomplish this we will have to complete aditional computer based courses approx. 6hrs long.

Computer test based on this info.

A 4 hour simulator period.

One leg flight in the aircraft with a Check pilot.

So as you can see we are being very thorough in preparing for this plane to enter the fleet.

Does that mean you'll be flying the -400?

CALPilot:

Great news on the 767 training. Hopefully we'll be seeing the '67 in CO service soon.

Any word on the first routes CO will be using the '67 on? And more important, when will we be seeing you at the helm of CO's newest aircraft?

Will the 762s also have the 777 cockpit, or only the 764s will? Will all they have the 777-style cabin interior? Thanks.

All of the new aircraft deliveries to Continental will have the new style interiors.

The 767-400s will be sent to Newark exclusively. IAH may not see 767-400 service for a year - if not longer. The 767-200 will be sent here to Houston for the IAH-GRU flight.

The interiors of both the -200 and -400 will be like the B777.

The cockpit of the -200 will be standard B757/767 type cockpit... The -400 will be equiped with six 8-by8-in (LFDS) large format display system. similar to that of the 777, ie, the PFD, Nav display, primary EICAS, Secondary EICAS, Synoptic info.

I have a Proficiency Check next month in the 757. And I need to complete the computer based training before they will schedule someone for the -400 simulator check. So I am going to be busy as are all of our pilots for the next few months. After which I hope to fly the plane as soon as I can get qualified. And bid a trip on the schedule that I can hold. We all belive the airplane is giong to go senior.

As for destinations, I'm now not sure I should say for reasons of company rules. And besides I've heard so many different places who knows. but I can say I saw it loaded, which is public knowledge, Nov 17 CDG, Oct1 GIG. And for sure MCO the first month for pilot IOE.

CALPilot- I will be on 2 flights in September and 1 in November EWR-MCO that are scheduled for 767-400's. What are the chances of these being your flights, when do you find out?
