Bye Bye America West!

Thu Jul 13, 2000 11:32 pm

First of all, I would like to personally apolojize for all of the inconveniences America West has caused any of you. I work at headquarters and have no control over the operations of the flights... just the fares!

But anyways -

I just gave my two weeks notice to America West today... I'm just tired of all the bull shit going at this airline. I love it, but I don't want to wait around for things to improve when I've already been offered a job at an airline where things are already great... Continental. Yep, I'm moving to Houston in a few weeks to work in a nice tower in downtown Houston for Continental Airlines.

Talk to you later!

I'm a summer intern at the HQ here in downtown Houston: 1600 Smith Street. I'd like to welcome you to Continental and Houston. Hopefully you'll like Houston as much as we do.

Congrats on your new job at Continental!

I think you'll love it at Continental--especially if you have a chance to meet Gordon Bethune, the CEO of the company. It was he who turned around what was "America's 'Soviet-style' Airline" and made it one of the best airlines in the USA, period.

You may want to go out to IAH and see all those shiny new 737-800's and 777's. (^_^)

Howdy and welcome to Texas.

I think you will enjoy Continetal also, although most folks fail to realize that it is ACTUALLY still Trans-Texas Airways under a different name (check the certificate under which it operates sometime).

Do us a favor when you get there....find out who and where CoEx is and have them come tell us why they were terminated at WN.

Frankly, if I owned hell and Houston I'd rent out Houston and live in hell. But there's a lot to see and do there nonetheless.

Watch out for the traffic!

Best Regards, TxAgQ8

Tornado & AWA320...

Fri Jul 14, 2000 9:00 am

Yeah good one! A 13 year old pilot at America West. I hope they are paying you well at Microsoft Flight Simulator. I notice you always bash Airbus even if the topic doesn't mention anything about them. Do us all a favor and fly on one before you make comments about them.

As for AWA320, I wish you the very best at Continental!

Man Tornado, that flight from London every day in order to get to your job as a pilot for Americawest must get to you. Then on top of that also being a student, wow that's impressive!

AWA320- congrats! I've never lived in Houston, but I connected through IAH, and can honestly say it was the smoothest, best connection I ever made.
You're entering into good company with CO- I flew them 4 times earlier this year, and all 4 pilots were friendly and humourous. One even managed to turn a delay (cockpit oxygen wouldn't work) into a running gag ("We could take off, but if the pilots can't breathe, you're not gonna make it too far..."  ). Have fun at your new job, and I agree with the name change! CO738 sounds perfect!

Welcome To Houston

Fri Jul 14, 2000 9:43 pm

Congratulations on your new job at CAL. I visited HQS and the old AGC (the building on Allen Parkway with the big American flag) many times when my wife worked in SOCC. The new place is really nice, but AGC had twice as many parking spaces and IMHO is easier to get in and out of than HQS is.

Good luck. Hopefully you won't have to move to ATL!

Sorry I have't replied to any of your replies, but I've been in Houston... in fact, I'm in Houston right now. I found an apartment today. It's over by the Galleria, for those of you that know Houston. Anyways, I'll talk to ya'll more when I get back to Phoenix.

Thanks to you all!
