Isn't DTW-FNT an actual scheduled flight? That's 48 nm and just over 15 minutes of flight time.

Another flight I could imagine is XFW-HAM, which is even shorter at 8 nm. I guess it's possible that XFW-HAM happens, when a "green" ACJ or A318 elite goes to Lufthansa Technik at HAM to get its cabin done.

I saw that but the shortest flight i ever knew of scheduled rev pax and it wasnt mentiond was Oak to Sfo in a 747. You could by a ticket for the 10 mile flight. But then you get off as the plane went overseas or Hnl

TWA used to do LAX to BUR then on to STL, in a Mad Dog IIRC. You could probably leave the gear down and the flaps at initial for that first leg...

I once timed ZNZ-DAR in a 737-200 as 14 minutes 43 seconds from take off to touch down. But the record surely is indeed Loganair in Scotland.

Westray-Papa Westray, Scotland. Block time 2 minutes IIRC.

Maybe we should have an "FAQ" forum, topics being "What is the shortest flight", "What is the longest 737 flight", "When will NW retire their DC9s" etc etc.  silly

KL had to fly its B777 full of pax from EWR to JFK the other day because of an earlier diversion. I'm sure that's a record at least for that a/c type.

HNL-OGG is only 100 miles, and with over 30 roundtrips each day on AQ (16 x 127 seats on 732s) and HA (17 x 123 seats 717s) there are over 4,000 seats in each direction on AQ and HA alone. On weekends there are nearly 40 roudtrips daily.

HNL-LIH is 101 miles
HNL-KOA is 163 miles
HNL-ITO is 216 miles

I know that the PLB-BTV flight from CoEx on the B1900 is a pretty short flight. The same with DTW-FNT.

As much as we know that, but it wouldn't be A.net if we didn't have several days of discussion along the lines of "Well I know this is a short flight", "xxxx used to fly xxx to xxx and it was only xx minutes long" and "Here to here is only this long"!  silly

Folks - there is no shorter commercial flight, it is in the Guinness Book of Records as such!

Two comments:
Firstly the link you posted is about the shortest flight in the continental US. Not quite the same.

Secondly if this was such a shocking repetition it wouldn't have (a) lasted this long without being deleted by a mod, or (b) had 20 plus replies.

You're new here, just relax. As it has been said many times, if you don't like the thread then just pass it by.

Lots of short flights between islands. For instance in Fiji I flew NAN-PTF, that is 16 miles and only few minutes of actual flight time. And yes, the flights are scheduled.

See here.

DAY-CVG ~ 65 miles
LEX-CVG ~ 65 miles

DTW-LAN ~ 70 miles
DTW-FNT~ 55 miles
DTW-TOL ~ 43 miles

None of them are in the top, but they're all pretty short flights.

Any "bridge" flights are short. Papa Westray to Westray is basically an airbridge. Cross a river and the flight is over.

Seems to be one daily flight except on Sundays. Any price for that flight? NAN-PTF is around 35 USD. Not bad when comparing that the ferry costs about the same and takes 4-5 times longer.

How about shortest widebody flight? I recently did YYZ to YOW on a Zoom 767, the surprise was that we got up to 33,000 feet and back in under half an hour (I thought we'd top out below FL200). Someone on the Air Events trip to Iran in September bagged an Iranair 747SP on Shiraz-Tehran. Bastard!! (I did it on a pair of Tu154s via Kish, not too shabby...but an SP!! AARGH!!) Flew AUH-BAH on a Gulf Air L1011 once, that was nice.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Boeing fly's the 737 from Renton to Boeing King County all the time (dur...) and its 4.68miles from tower to tower. Great Circle Mapper shows this:

There was a time when Servivensa (VC) had a flight from Aruba to Las Piedras in Venezuela operated with a DC9, it was something like 10 minutes and max climb 6000 feet.

One of the shortest scheduled flights this side of the Atlantic in Europe must be SouthWest Airlines flight NQY-PLH.

The flight operates four times a day in each direction and is 39 miles apart. The schedule advises the flight is 15 minutes, gate to gate. The flight is operated by Dash 8-300

Even though this flight is fully bookable, the majority of passengers are flying on to LGW and stops off to pick up additional passengers.
