HA 763 From DL

Wed Jan 03, 2007 1:05 am

The FAA Supplemental Type Certificate has just been issued for the first HA763 with the Heath Tecna Nu-Look interior. The aicraft should enter revenue service by Thursday.

Awesome news. I saw 4 delta 767s (one had its paint stripped off) hanging around the Goodrich facility in PAE last Saturday. Are all of those destined for HA?

Only one of those is for HA... Goodrich has a contract with DL for cabin mods on their 767s and 777s. So far, 8 or 9 DL A/C have gone through the modification line at Goodrich.

Does this mean that the DL 767s that are staying with the company will be getting the Nu-Look interiors?

Does anyone know if this gets the mod program back on schedule or will the SAN-OGG flight remain cancelled until mid-March?

I apologize for my confusion on this but I've tried to keep track of these 4 a/c from DL, their modifications, the new HA flights' scheduled start dates, etc. I know there have been delays and schedule adjustments during the end of last year because of missing a/c (just one?), but I don't know if this a/c now entering service gets things back on track or not...

...and I want our Maui flight back!

The delays on A/C 596 have delayed the work on 597 and 598 as well, which is why OGG-SAN was cancelled thru March, when A/C 598 is expected to be in service. In the meantime, the schedule will still be tight until A/C 597 arrives.

I saw some flights later this week using 596 so hopefully it will FINALLY get here and start working!! As a sidenote, once 598 arrives, 594 which has been doing HNL-SJC since September with the original DL interior will go to get the new interior mod.

Also of note, the three 763ERs that HA purchased a few weeks back are 580, 581 and 582 which have the old style bins, but the new purple seats. These birds have 4 doors on each side and no window exits.

What are some of the routes that the Ex DL planes will be put on? Also on a sidenote that doesnt have any revelation to the topic. The recent 2 F/A classes that just graduated did they base them in HNL or the west coast. And is this class all on reserve or do most of them hold lines?

Mahalo, Aloha73, for the recap. I just hope this (re)-schedule holds and we will not lose #37/38 for any longer! (It must frost HA to be giving lots of bodies to AQ to fill up their Maui flight for 2 months!)

I think almost all of the OGG-SAN pax were accomodated on HA's HNL-SAN flight.

The ex DL planes will be any/all of the mainland routes, unless they don't have the legs for PHX/LAS (I think they do). You definately will NOT see them in SYD, but they can/will do ANC, PPT and PPG.

The recent FA classes are all based in HNL....I was in the 3rd class, the 4th one just came on the line and the 5th class is staring next week with possibly 2 more classes later in 2007.

In December, almost all of the 1st class held bids, but due the elimination of OGG-SAN I think all of the new hires are back on reserve for January.

During most of the year with the exception of summer, the EX DL planes will be flying to the west coast except of course LAS and PHX due to the high temps there. The last two classes were based in HNL and none of them got a bid.

Can the HNL F/A that work a flight to HNL work a flight back to the westcoat? Example do a SJC-HNL, then do a HNL-PDX the same day?

Is there a thread on this I can check out? I missed it.

I was one one of those not too long ago. I cannot remember which one but it was an ex-LTU bird. ... The layout on the plane sucked - nothing like sitting without a window; the flight itself was very enjoyable.

Yes. People can do what we call a "hub-turn" if they desire to do so. Certain flights are designated as legal turns by scheduling and can be built into monthly bids. Popular ones this month are:

HNL-SFO//SFO-HNL-SFO//SFO-HNL
HNL-SEA//SEA-HNL-SMF//SMF-HNL
HNL-SMF//SMF-HNL-SMF//SMF-HNL

There are many other combos but I know the 3 above are available in January.

Prior to OGG-SAN's cancellation the crews for SAN were routed HNL-SAN//SAN-OGG-SAN//SAN-HNL.

Ah, thanks for the correction.

Well, it made me happy to see German on all the major areas but the plane just had a weird layout... And many of the TV screens were busted.

Are you refering to the ex DL planes ? IF you are then we have already bought them for the very bargain price of 8 million each.

You can also add my personal favorite hub turn of which I am doing 3 times this month...HNL-LAX(17 hr l/o)LAX-HNL-PHX(31 hr l/o)PHX-HNL for a flight credit of 22.5 hrs

KHNL

Just a correction, KHNL is a television station and the NBC affiliate in Hawaii. The ICAO code for HNL is PHNL. K--- is only for airport in the U.S. mainland (lower 48 states). Hawaii is PH-- and Alaska is PA--.

That sounds like a nice hub-turn that isn't quite as tiring as the others  Smile

Or you could do my personal favorite trip which is HNL-SYD, layover 74 hours and then SYD-HNL. Oh wait, that's not a hub turn.  Smile

Any chance of getting some interior pics of this bird with the Nu-Look interior? A before and after shot from the old DL interior to the new HA interior would be awesome.
