PH-CKD will be leased to AF Cargo for 1,5 years to replace a 742F before it comes 'home'

I hope this isn't the beginning of the end of the great KLM colour scheme:-(

Maybe this could be a "sign" that the 2 companies want too show there 1 by using the other carriers colour scheme (or something like that)

But get ready to see soon a new common colorscheme on both AF & KL CARGO fleet, as the full merging process into one single entity has already started .

We could have a scheme looking like the one of NW/KL's DC10 in the late nineties. Half AF, half KL. That would suit well the 744F !!!

Does she have a name? Or will it be assigned once she goes to KL? The category should be VOC-ships.

Nice one, although 'David and Goliad (Goliath)' wouldn't be bad either on a 744ERF

That would look weird. You'd see the KL-half and think: OK, cool; but then when you see the other half you'd wonder: Wow, why is this half still in primer paint...

As someone said, this is a planbe that will be leased to AF Cargo for a year or so, but will it be leased considering they are one and the same?

Indeed... at least the NW scheme was recognizable as a real scheme. Even though some ppl mockingly name it the 'bowling shoe' c/s, I actually really like it.

If I recall correctly, both airlines are still separate businesses, so technically it would be leased.

Probably because that was a naval warship, rather than a VOC (Dutch East Indies Company) armed trade ship.

I thought that Air France Cargo and KLM Cargo are almost completely merged into one company.

That is what I read as well a while ago or at least that was the plan to merge all cargo operations of both airlines. I even remember reading somewhere that AF Cargo would fly cargo flights from AMS as well in KL Cargo from CDG. Is this true?

Air France can pretty much do what it wants with KLM. The merger really was a purchase of KLM by Air France. Air France is the King, while KLM maybe the Queen. Air France is NOT going to fly someone else's aircraft in any color other than their own livery.

If you guys are interested in the old ships a nice place to visit is the Batavia shipyard, if you are in the neighborhood in Lelystad.
Batavia is completed some years now and the Seven provinces under construction all with authentic material and tools.
