I think that we should go ahead and get 10 777-300ERs. Those could cover our two daily EWR-TLV flights (and they would certainly be full) and maybe rotate on the EWR-CDG/IAH-CDG routes, which are also always full. Then, with the 777s that are freed up, we could really heat things up in Europe and Asia. Maybe start SEL, CAN and MNL in Asia. Then start sending 777s to FCO, AMS and MAD and use the 764s that are freed up to start CAI/DME/IST/WAW.
Just some thoughts - plenty of other possibilities, but that's just one idea.

Remember CO are now surely trying to snatch passengers from Delta on their ATL run and by all accounts they are succeeding.

Are you referring to the ATL-EDI route? By all means, please enlighten us as to where you are coming to this conclusion.

Perhaps less than 30% business class loads on DL with near full on CO ( albeit on a 757)will enlighten you. Its no secret. Overall loads from CAA data.

Does anyone think CO exercised their remaining 1 option on 777-200er? There is one unidentified one on the Boeing order sheet for 2006.

This is not on the scale of widebody comings and goings; but CommutAir appears to have delayed the inaugural flight of their CLE-based Dash 8-200's ten days until March 13th.

CO's posted schedules from April out are inaccurate to the point of being just computerized fare buckets. Why CO has become so reluctant to disclose future domestic schedules less than 3 months out? I guess the obvious answer is because they haven't completed them yet. Alternatives?

Since when has CAA given a break of biz/eco pax.....?
The decision to increase EDI to 2x daily will be down to the better yields (compared to GLA, although who knows just how much better they are) and yes probably partly to keep their market share in the EDI-US market as large as possible.
Will be no problem for either airline to fill their flights in the summer, however the current CO schedule shows 2x daily flights extending to the end of December, if that doesn't change then winter could see a bit of a bloodbath between CO and DL.

The first mover in any market has an advantage that it takes newcomers time to overcome. I wouldn't say that CO has taken traffic from DL as much as that DL has simply not developed the route fully yet. And as been discussed, EDIATL may be a candidate for a downgrade to a 757 when those planes become available anyway. DL might have more capacity in EDI than they want - and remember DL's BE 763s have twice as many seats as CO's BF 757s.

Although CDG routes might be full all the time, who's to say they are making much money??? The 777-300's would be good for TLV, India and possibly Hong Kong, but CO have not interest in adding another sub-type to their fleet. If theres a downturn in the market, they will be left with an expensive sub fleet, with nowhere to send them.

Could be a good idea in the winter if it has the range, but the B763 is definitely required in the summer not just because of the high passenger loads but also because of the large amount of cargo that is carried in the summer. I'm not sure how much cargo is getting carried just now though.

any airline can fill a plane to Europe in the summer. whether you get enough revenue is a question only DL can answer. but assuming that EDI or any city is profitable just because it fills the plane is not correct.

At the moment, its AA92 ORD-DUB-SNN-ORD, and from this summer, SNN has a 757 to ORD, and DUB gets a 763.

I am sorry, I meant BOS-MAN, and ORD-SNN, being the only 757s transatlantic routes this year.

I don't think anyone mentioned this in the thread but in addition to the extra flights previously stated there is also a second flight to Lisbon due to operate.

CO140 Newark - Lisbon 2205 - 1005+1

CO141 Lisbon - Newark 1215 - 1505

Enjoy!

Ive just noticed that myself! Good news for CO and LIS. LIS flights perform very well for CO, so its a good move!!! They've increased the 10pm bank of flights quite considerably for this summer!!! DUB/SNN, MAN, LGW, MAD, FCO, EDI, GLA, and TLV!!!

With all the additional frequencies on existing routes, does that mean CO is done w/2007 European expansion plans? A lot of a.netters would be wrong if only Athens was announced. W/extra LGW, MAD, LIS, etc. on the 757, are they out of capacity until the 737-900ER's arrive in 2008

CO 138 EWR-CDG 2045-1010 757-200
CO 139 CDG-EWR 1200-1440 757-200

I would think of all routes this would at least be a 762 route, if not another 777.

BRU? didnt know the load factors were that good....

DUB (early) goes to the 762 on 1 Jun

Definately thought this would be fit for a 752...

Great News to see CO finally adding capacity to LIS. It was a long time coming and there are very high yields on that flight especially during the summer months. I guess they learned their lesson and want to prevent another carrier (like USAir did last year) from entering the market.
