HA's Ex DL 767-300, How Many In Service Now

Wed Jan 24, 2007 7:21 am

How many of the ex-DL 767-300s are in passenger service with HA now? The company's web site shows 2, but Honolulu Advertiser recently reported that two are in service, one with old interior and one with an updated interior. Why is it taking so long to get these planes into passenger service?

Also, HA recently purchased some of their leased planes. Are these the new ones from Boeing, or are they the old ex-LTU planes?

Mahalo for any information

I just flew on of the ex-DL 767's from SFO. Did not get the name or registration but it had an awful, shabby interior...it certainly did not feel like HAL and I do hope they bring it up to standard. It was deployed to do the SFO return flight again.

AC #594 is online and has the old interior with the old DL seating capacity of 24/??? and AC#596 is also online with the new interior with a seating capacity of 18/246. That aircraft was rushed online with no video screens so it aint a fav with the crews.

The aircraft in question were the first 767s that we recieved from AWAS, AC#580,581,and 582. The LTU AC#s are 583,584,585,and 586.

You just flew on AC #594, This plane is probably has the lowest on time percentage of any of our 767s with the possible exception of #596.For some reason these two planes are flying alot to SFO,SMF and LAX.

Probaly the perfect routes for these a/c as these are non-er versions.

I would feel the same way if I were a paying customer. Does anyone know when this a/c is going in for a refit?

Why would AC#594 have the lowest ontime percentage? Being becuase it just came online with HA? Also AC #596 has no video screens at all on the aircraft so that means no inflight entertainment at all? Yikes

These 3 767's were the first delivered to us and they have the new seats, sidewalls, and carpeting but do not have the 777 style overhead bins. They also have 3 cabin doors on each side compared to the newer aircraft (#'s 587-593) which have 2 cabin doors on each side with overwing window exits. We as crew, like these planes MUCH better than our ex-LTU aircraft (#'s 583-586)

Audio is available and all headsets are complimentary on this aircraft. We also have our digiplayers for rent. This situation will be rectified when the other two airplanes come on line and this one will then go back to get the video system installed.

When will the next 2 ex-DL planes come in? When will 594 get refitted with the new interior? How long will this take?

How long will 596 be out of service for the video refit?

Thanks

Halfa,

Where did planes 580, 581, and 582 come from (ie which airline used to use these planes)?

Actually HALFA, they have 4 cabin doors.

They came to us new from AWAS.

Pualani:

If planes 580-582 arrive brand new from AWAS, why didn't they have the new 777-style interiors. I thought all the 767s made after 2000 had the new 777-style interiors?

Also, does HA have any plans to replace the ex-LTU planes? With 787 entering service, ANA will be getting rid of some 767-300ERs. Might be a good chance for HA to pick some up cheap.

Thanks

When will the next 2 ex-DL planes come in?

If all goes according to plan, aircraft #598 will arrive on February 16th, and #597 will get here in mid-April.

Quoting Lahaina (Reply 9):
When will 594 get refitted with the new interior?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it wont be until November.

Quoting Lahaina (Reply 9):
How long will 596 be out of service for the video refit?

That shouldn't take more than a few days.

Quoting Pualani (Reply 11):

I was referring to doors that can be used to board and deplane passengers. These aircraft (#580-582) have 3 cabin doors on each side plus another floor level exit that can only be used in an emergency.

Modify? Possibly. Replace? No plans yet.

Those three AWAS aircraft (580-582) have interiors specified by their original customer/planned operator - Ansett. When AN went under in mid Sep 2001 these three 767's became available and HA snapped them up at a pretty good rate I believe.
I 'think' (here's where I'm fuzzy) they also came with Ansett-style galleys which were different to the other HA 767s - correct me if I'm wrong please...

The galleys on the AWAS planes match the ones on 587-593. Which most of the crews prefer.

Are these 767-300's that DL previously used domestically? If so, agreed. They were very very well-used, to say the least, so they are definitely in need of an interior upgrade.

Mostly correct. The location of the mid galley on the AWAS planes are adjacent to the 2L&R Doors, and on the newer aircraft, the mid galley is at the overwing area. The newer aircraft have 3 flight attendant jumpseats for us to sit on during flight when we are manning our galley areas, whereas the AWAS planes have no jumpseat at the mid galley so we sit on metal storage containers.

I worked a flight to LAX two days ago on aircraft #596 which is the latest addition to our fleet, and it is beautiful now! I believe it is ex DL#119. (Tod from Heath Techna would know for sure) It was completely gutted inside and replaced with brand new overhead bins, sidewalls, seats and galleys. All coach seats have leather headrests, and the first class area has more legroom now. It was worth the wait.

Hey HALFA, does that mean this is reliable?
