Hello I was in one of my aviation classes today and news spread from some of my class mates who work at YLW that there has been a collision on the Apron. Apparently the WS 737's Wing (dont know what side) collided with the QK Dash-8's Vertical Stab. Does anyone have anymore details?? One of my friends who works at the airport is going in to work this evening and he will try and take some photos.
Sorry I dont have more information but this is all I have been informed about.

Looking at AC's website it looks like AC8423 was canceled this evening, this was probably the affected flight. It was bound for YVR.
According to WS's website WS197 looks to be have not left yet. Flight concerned was bound for Victoria.

At CGK a Garuda 737 had a ramp collision with a Saudi Arabian 747, have not seen seen that in the news either.

Assume WS 737 sustained significant wingtip damage?? See Boeing running a B737 from BFI this am...is this a maintanance team coming to check damage??

Yea, I have not seen it yet, happened on thursday and I only went friday AM.... However I have been told both a/c are in Kelowna Flight Craft's Maintenance... So I guess we will see, it does seem interesting that Boeing is sending up a 737... Perhaps with Maintenance personal onboard.
Look, some people care, some dont. I for one am very interested in this as this is my home airport, and I know many people who work on the ramp (although they have been slow to get back to me). Not only am I but there are other a.net members who live in YLW or the close area (YYF, YVK etc...) who are quite interested in this, if you dont like it do not read this.

I wonder if having a winglet would increase or decrease damage vulnerability. I hope that poor 737 wasn't hurt to badly.

Went by YLW this morning, didnt notice a WJ around kelowna flight craft, but I did see a NW 757 which is always a pleasent surprise.

I was told it involved a CRJ, which was back in service the next morning. Don't know about the 737.

The incident happened between a Westjet 737 and a Jazz CRJ. Westjet was taxing out of the gate and clipped the Horizontal Stab of the CRJ. The 737 did not sustain any damage other than some scratched paint on the winglet, after a inspection was carried out the A/C left YLW that night. Jazz spent the Night on the KFC ramp getting its Stab Tip Fairing replaced and was ready to fly out the next morning.
The 737 that came from BFI had nothing to do with the incident between Westjet and Jazz.
Tuffgong, there was actually 3 NW 757's in YLW on that day you drove by, the other two were insides KFC's 757 Hangar

WOW, I only noticed two NW 757's on the ramp, to see 3 would have been pretty good for YLW.
Further, I heard rumours that the WS pilots who were taxing out actually added power once their A/C collided because he thought he had hit ice... Does this hold any water?
Also Skydrolboy, you seem to know a fair bit about YLW and KFC... do you happen to know about that 757 w/ winglets that is parked on KFC's ramp is there for. It looks like a private 757, possibly middle eastern??? Anyways thanks alot!

Yes that would be what you saw but it was actually a 737-BBJ not a 737-600

I did not hear anything about the pilots adding power because he thought he hit ice, sounds like someones making up stories to me as the ramp at YLW is usually always clear of snow and ice.

That particular a/c used to be with Air Astana, hence the paint job, it will be getting some work done inside the hangar at KFC in the next few months and then will be leaving to go get a custom interior fitted as it will now be a private a/c.

My money would be on KFC, are you an AME with flight craft? I am actually surprised on how many people on year are from the Okanagan Valley here. Anyhow just out of curiosity, I saw a Air Tanzania 732 back in December, what was that there for, just some maintenance? It seems KFC actually gets a fair bit of work from various carriers. Was the ANA BBJ in for winglets? As far as the ex-Air Astana how long has that a/c been on the ramp for? I remember seeing it in September, so it has been sitting around for a while.

Yes I'm an AME with flightcraft. The Air Tanzania bird you saw was an ex-delta a/c that was being given a c-check and prepared for the lease to Air Tanzania, theres another ex-delta bird that has been done up for Air Tanzania and is sitting in the hangar waiting to leave. The ANA BBJ was in for winglets. The Air Astana a/c has been on the ramp for qutie awhile now, I think since May.
