The IR summer schedule is now available as a PDF file on their website. The THR-DAM-CCS-DAM-THR weekly flights are listed, using Boeing B747SPs. The THR-KUL flights will be going to thrice weekly from the current once. In addition, there are new domestic flights from THR to Gorgan (GBT) and Tabas (TCX), operated by Fokker F100s

Cool , good for IranAir !!! Its great to see them with some new routes.

I guess we don't need to do that. I just tried to book the return tomorrow CCS-THR in "C" and it came back as "UN" (=Unable) from the GDS.

If so, the resident photo hounds here on A.net had been remiss - as the latest photos in the database were from the September 2004 sightseeing flight with aviation enthusiasts on board.

Either that, or EP-IAB has been very elusive indeed.

EP-IAB showed up in HAM yesterday. I have a photo in the upload queue, but the lighting was difficult, and I arrived only seconds before the departure, so I'm afraid it may be rejected.

Anyway, at least I can confirm that EP-IAB is flying again.  Smile

Press from today:
http://noticias.eluniversal.com/2007/03/03/eco_art_197438.shtml

about inaugural flight. So it is finally there.

Interesting that the article also mentions that Qatar, Syria and Poland are interested in having flights to Venezuela as well. So we might see LOT and Qatar Airways soon !? Who knows.

One thing is for sure: Caracas would be the hub of Latinamerica IF we had a strong local airline like COPA in Panama to distribute all the traffic. There is no other airport with a better geographical location than CCS in Southamerica.

would be great to see them both soon here in CCS, I can even imagine that LOT could be doing good with all european connections that they offer .... and Qatar would be doing good for all the asia traffic...

totally agree... but we are years (decades) away from it.... now with AV in the region it is even more impossible to be a reall hub .

Definetly - nice connections to UAE, India and Far East. This would work. It would work much better if there was a good Venezuelan airline as I stated above.

I think CCS is still in a better position. AV can feed the market between US West Coast, Central America and South America and CCS can be used as hub between Europe and whole Latinamerica/Caribbean. Both is possible but:

if AV starts more Europe flights... CCS has lost... BOG is just 1 hour far away from CCS (when flights are comming from Europe) so I do not see much disadvantage to CCS + AV has already a nice hub operations there....

I wonder if one day we have the chance to find out the load factor.....Maybe some spotters down in CCS can at least make a passenger count next weekend ? And post some photos of course.....

60 pax from THR and 40 from DAM.

R/T tickets from CCS sell for:

DAM: USD 2400

THR: USD 3400

Both destinations are very expensive, compared with AZ which offers THR for EUR 1150 return.

The GDS show a fare of 1000 USD plus around 200 Taxes = 1200 USD which is a good fare - and it is negotiable for groups/events/operators as far as I heard down to 800 USD !

IR must get terrible utilization from the 747SP. It sits on the ground at CCS for 27 hours between inbound and outbound flights. It's either that or having the entire crew spend a week in CCS.

The crew needs to stay 24 hours. The flight arrived on Friday at 20:48h, so the earliest departure would have been Saturday 20:48h. No clue why they took off on Sunday evening - indeed a bad utilization.

The fare is around USD 999+ right now and less with tour groups. I think the higher fare might have been for J class or higher.

Than I am sure that the fare from THR and DAM will be around 500 $

The fare out of THR is 800-1000 NUC. I don't know which is the fare out of CCS, but I guess taking the "unofficial" exchange rate it would be even lower.....

Maybe I can try the flight going to the CCS a.net meeting in May: https://www.airliners.net/discussions...eneral_aviation/read.main/3288148/

Conviasa's president Franklin Martinez has told the media that he expects 10.000.000 (ten million) passengers in the first 2 months! That makes 16 flights (on a weekly basis) so 625000 passengers per flight... they'll go bankrupt paying Denied Boarding Compensation  Cool
