PIA Hits FlyBE @ MAN

Fri Feb 16, 2007 12:27 am

There are rumors in T1 that a flyBE Dash 8 has been hit by the PIA 777. Does anyone have any news?

Could also have been a 777-200ER or a 777-200LR.

Today or yesterday? The 777-300ER doesn't visit on Thursdays.

PIA B777-200LR AP-BGY taxiing for a 24R departure clipped the top of the rudder of a FLYBe Dash 8-400 with the starboard wingtip. The Dash 8 was at a runway intersection awaiting departure. Both aircraft are currently parked up on the west apron, 66 ish and stand 73, they taxiied there under their own power.

I have a photo of the damage sustained to G-JEDR, twisted rudder, at the very top, sorry for poor quality as it was taken on my phone.
Was parked up on stand 62. We had to tow it into the hangar apron, for repair work to be untaken by BA Connect.
We went over to AP-BGY, and there is no visible damage to the wingtip.

I went over to have a look and there was no visible damage, but it was still grounded when I left at half 9 last night.

That explains why PK715 was a 777-300ER today.

I was thinking the same when I read about this.

Also there was a diverted SQ bound for London this morning for a fuel stop which interrupted my coffee break. We handle all their flights at AMS.
