Edinburgh had been rumoured with Easyjet, along with other destinations including Belfast and Murcia. They don't seem to be launching any services so all it must have been was a rumour. It had even been posted in Airlinerworld, however!

Madrid - Palma

That was predictable, jumping into the shoes of Air Madrid, I think they used to run an A310 as well as their 319s on that route, so if must be fairly lucrative.

Whats your point?! Doesn't really answer his question does it!

They're are other airports in Scotland....Prestwick not being one of the main ones!!

Hopefully EasyJet will start a service to Edinburgh!

Thank you, PIK can be a pain to get to from where I live and I get free parking at GLA airport so would be handy. Also if your staying at the airport for 2 hours at least EDI/GLA you can walk around. PIK has nothing really.

I cant see EZY starting BOH-scotland , everytime i fly FR BOH-PIK the load factor is pretty low, my last flight it was 117 out of their 189 seats and thats when you take into account that even a week before you can get flights BOH-PIK for no more than about 30 return. Then when you consider you have BE down the road at SOU serving GLA 6 times daily its not very likley, it is a shame there isnt any competition at southampton though , thats where i would really like to see the competition , but with the short runway i think flybe will have the monopoly there for quite a while.

I know. I've been looking at flights back home and the prices flybe charge seem to be getting more and more expensive.

For the month of January, Ryanair handled from Bournemouth:

Prestwick 5,963
Dublin 6,633
Madrid 1,808
Gerona 5,470
Shannon 1,298
Pisa 2,295

Of course not daily on Pisa, Shannon, Madrid.

Yes i definatley agree with that i remeber the days when i could book my SOU-GLA flights a month in advance and get them for under £45. Now the cheapest return fare is over £55 and thats like over a month in advance. They are becoming a rip off now they have erriadicated the competition (BA connect).

Well by the looks of things my flight was pretty full! with 117!!! to be honest theese load factors from bournemouth are really poor, 96 is barley 50% load factor and that route has the 2nd highest load factor!!! I really can not see how shannon is profitable a 25% load factor is really awful on ryanair's average load factor of 76%.

Yahoooo a dream come true!!!!!!!!!! Hope they do well! They are quit competitive:

30th of June:

Brussels Airlines with tax & fees. 103.99 Euros
Easyjet with tax & fees. 32.99 Euros

Loving it  Smile

Hope they do well cause I'd really like them to expand fast to offer a good alternative to Brussels's airline monopoly in BRU!

Both by DTM based a/c! Recently, I analyzed the DTM schedule loaded for the summer and they completely used the 4 based a/c. It either means that they shift some flights to other bases (LTN or MXP), or that they are going to base a number 5 a/c. In the latter case, they'll announce more routes shortly. When I have time, I'll re-analyze their schedule.

Easyjet at Thessaloniki, thats great news. I hope that they add more routes to this underserverd airport with a large catchment area. Nice city with lots of potential in my opinion.

CDG has already been dropped a year ago, but indeed, MXP is not bookable now. However, the MXP 'gap' does not leave enough space for the SKG-flight, as it is considerably longer. Haven't finished the schedule yet; they will go to 4 different schedules (135, 24, 6, 7) makes it a hell of a job. However, next to MXP they should need to drop other frequencies at 246 to do it with the same equipment.

Fitting EDI in the schedule is no problem. Sector length from DTM is comparable to MXP, as are the proposed timings. However, the scheduled time is still strange as it leaves a 20 minute turnaround time, iso 25 minutes.

This is the schedule for monday, 4 June: (and wed, fri)

NCE 0625-1015
PRG 1035-1335
LTN 1415-1720
KRK 1745-2135

AGP 0610-1250
BUD 1330-1725 <-- here is only 20 minutes, iso 25
EDI 1745-2140

LTN 0700-1005
CIA 1030-1500
ALC 1545-2135

PMI 0700-1210
BCN 1250-1755
LTN 1835-2140

However, I cannot fit SKG in the loaded schedules. Schedule for tuesday, 5 June: (and thu, 7)

NCE 0625-1015
PRG 1035-1335
LTN 1415-1720
KRK 1745-2135

AGP 0630-1310
SKG 1405-2025
BUD 1100-1455
Here is a conflict. The SKG flight can go after AGP, but it leaves no space for the BUD flight, that is, interesting enough, loaded at 11:00, a different timing than monday (and wed, fri)

LTN 0700-1005
CIA 1030-1500
ALC 1545-2135

PMI 0700-1210
BCN 1250-1755
LTN 1835-2140

Interesting how it will work out.

VERY smart move. Many greeks live in and around the Dortmund area, and many of them from northern greece.
I think the service will do very well. May launch is also excellent timing...

The 3-weekly thing surprises me. So far, easyJet employed a "all flights daily" strategy at DTM. Overall, easyJet is operating most of it's flights at least in a daily frequency, except for some low-frequencies from non-London UK cities to Spanish islands. The 3/4 (1357/246) rotation scheme is more a Ryanair thing (they employ it on many routes from all bases); I cannot think of another easyJet base at 3/4-schemes.

What makes it even more interesting, is that a 3-weekly flight at DTM does not allow for the Dortmund NERES funds (New and Existing Routes Expansion Scheme). It's a 2-year reduction on fees and charges and financial aid for promotion, but it requires at least 200 yearly flights (4 weekly; 4x52 = 208; calculated proportionally from the starting date); 3-weeklies equals 156 flights. (NERES info at http://www.flughafen-dortmund.de/104.0.html?&L=1 )

I wonder what kind of promotion SKG is currently doing to attract airlines. They've been added to SkyEuropes bases recently and now DTM. I expect MXP, SXF, PAR and LON launches to follow soon.

DTM might also switch to MXP. Their loaded schedule still has 3 gaps, 1 for a short and 2 for long flights. The DTM flight fits in a 11:15-14:30 scheme, on a schedule of PMO, DTM, PRG, CDG for one a/c. There is also an excellent time slot in the MXP schedule for SKG.
