Why are airlines changing perfectly OK liveries into worse designs? LTU tried it before, and it seems that they want to do it again. I mean, it's my personal opinion, of course, but I like the current livery much better than this new proposal.

I prefer the old livery. Why to change very good looking livery into worse?

I think I should go out to the airport to get some nice pictures of the current LTU scheme before it´ll disappear.

They should have asked lila design  Smile.

Local Press will complain and will quote pax who will tell that they miss the old livery and everything will go back to normal! I think this is attempt 3 to chnage the livery! It is one of the "I want to change but not too much approaches".

New colours would have been nice!

As a market researcher I ask myself if any market research has bee done concerning the new livery?

First of all I don't like this proposal of a new livery and secondly the money for repainting the whole fleet could be used more appropriately anywhere else within the company.

I agree with some others here, the old livery isn't that bad. Just another airline going the "euro-white"  bored  with ".com" on the fuselage. I really hate seing ".com" on planes..... thumbsdown

I understand LTU mgt thinking a bit of a touch-up is needed but this isn't all that great. I wonder how much money LTU paid the designers for this bit of cleverness. However, I do like the tail logo though.....

It is a cool new livery however I don't like the tail design with the vertical writing.

I heart that LTU wants to change their livery because of the "too-much-red" of the actual one. If you look at some of their aircraft's the red colour is very faded.
here is an example:

When it was my responsibility:
- instead of bright red - a darker metallic red - just too make it a bit more seroius. Instead of the white a light grey or beige.

AND PLEASE PAINT THE ENGINES RED! Or the Engines and the pylons a la UA.

I do like it actually.

To all the too-much-eurowhite complainers out there: that clean, bold look is simply the current standard in design, nothing more, nothing less. It has a lot to do with modern-day web design, known as Web 2.0 style.. just have a look at an article a blogging friend of mine wrote on this:

Good: It retains much of the current identity - same LTU logo, it keeps the same colors (but in different places), and it has a curve on it now. The red still makes it all the way forward, albeit just on the bottom. Looks more modern, even if modern liveries sometimes are worse than the old ones - but for travelers it will look like it's up to date.
Bad: It's Eurowhite. (At least it's on a European airline...)

It sucks!  vomit

Why fix something that was never broken? I mean, LT lived with the current livery for over 30 years. Why go through this all over again?  Angry A slight revision of the current one would have been OK, but such a radical change to something more boring and something that might crew up their brand recognition (after all, everybody in Germany knows that if it's something big and red, it's LT).

I have to agree! Also the red on top tends to fade and once that happens it does not look all that sharp. I would like to see the engines painted red as well.

WHY are airlines having such a huge lack of creativity and imagination when creating new liveries these days? That bloody white is sooooo boring.

This new LTU livery reminds me another very boring one, and another backwards decision when renewing their paint scheme: AeroMexico.
Do all these carriers aim to look the same style or what?

I think the new livery looks great on the A330, but then it has a nice curvy underneath to complement the red sweep down from the tail... but am not so sure it will look as fetching on the A320 / A321.....

Like what? They have to repaint the aircraft anywhere after the regular checkups, so the only way to do it any cheaper is to not paint them at all.

Come on guys....it's the 21st century, things are going to get modernized, no matter.....and truth is, the LTU scheme was dated, and probably costing too much money to keep looking good.

Ugggh there is way too much white in the front half of the aircraft plus the titles are ridiculously small! I thought that the old LTU livery was in need of change, but this new design does not cut it...  Sad

I'd like to see the white painted area cleaned polish, aka AA. I think that would be very nice. Not crazy about the European white though the design is contemporary.

This "front half white, rear half painted"-trend is getting a bit boring, every second airline does this since a few years. If this is LTUs new livery I´m slightly disappointed. The tail looks better though. The boring tail-design and the grey belly are the weak details of the current scheme.

So are they going to paint more then one aircraft this time before the public tells LT to leave the livery alone?  Big grin

Personally, I quite like the new style, however, it bugs me when airlines put the .com on the side of the aircraft. However, DUS just wouldn't be the same without all those wonderful red airplanes!

Aircraft are generally painted into an airline's new color scheme during their heavy maintenance checks, which require the entire aircraft to be repainted, anyway. If anything, the paint scheme may save them money due to its reduced use of red paint.

I can't say that I'm crazy about the new color scheme, but, if anything, it'll make me appreciate the old one while it's still flying.

I agree with some that the old livery is outdated and needs an update but, in my opinion, this would not be the way to go. This proposed livery is just too plain and boring and look just like every other airline's color scheme.

If they could, finding a way to stylize and modernize their current paint scheme with some minor changes would be the way to go.

Perhpas, something like what KLM did? I'm sure that would look a bit more modern, and keeping the basic red theme, keep the DUS public happy.

I always liked the old LTU livery - bright, but classy and instantly recognisable to the flying German public. A sad loss.

I think its so so, to much white though, maybe some new colors or some more red interspersed around the front fusalage, but this has too much white. At least the old livery had a dominant color with a good mixture of a secondary color.

just my opinion

Yes, I understand the main reason behind a number of airlines going for the eurowhite scheme is due to cutting costs in the paint shop BUT if their plans is to renew the scheme please come up with something more unique for example UNITED...

Really, LTU has a good livery, very distinct one, every potential costumor knows, immediately recognizes it - changing it to something that cannot be associated with it is deleting reputation, trust, costumor confidence, and no cost advertisements worth of 100 Mio €. If all managers who make so stupid decisions would be fired by industry, instead of those who actually really work, LTU could already have their good old color scheme on half a dozen of A380. ( I know they haven't any on order, but a population loyal to an airline that could fill up to 11 Tristars in the mid 70ties could fill A380 now with mid quality management )

MUCH better than the white fuselage-dark blue tail trend,, but I totally hate the smallish LTU.com thing on the front, why couldn't it be bigger? The .com thing detracts from the livery IMO.

We've seen this design in too many liveries so the old one is still batter in basis of originality.

Looks like they started the design of the new livery from the rear, and then got bored half-way through...resulting in yet another eurowhite livery. Sure, the red is classy and good looking, but they could have put down some more work on the front half of the plane.

And that "dot com" thing is just so LCC.

The LTU.com logo at the front looks a mess. A larger, simple LTU would have been fine. Personally, the rest of the livery looks good, but like others I would prefer the engines to have been red, or at least painted with LTU on them. Like others on this forum I agree that the current scheme is an instantly recognisable brand in Germany, but to be honest it looks a mess after a few years. The top of the fuselage becomes very dull, almost looking worn, and no amount of polishing brings it back to its original glory.

The new livery could use a thicker silver striping and it'd better have matching silver coloured engine nacelles. Imo there was nood need to trash their 'former' evergreen designed livery.
