T3 is a busy mess. The queue's were crazy to get through security at 6:00am the other Monday morning when I was travelling to LHR.

Any news on the Air Asia X rumoured service? They could do with starting or releasing a press release soon on the flights otherwise they will miss the summer travel market. It would be good to have a cheap way of flying from Australia to the UK for when i start university over there next year and so i can return home to the UK on a students budget!

PS Any other MAN news, possible new rumoured services?

I did see an online article that suggested they've been unable so far to source any aircraft for start-up this year, but will definitely be operating by August 2008.

Air Blue is a new service which is starting this summer.

I am afraid, yet again, it looked very promising at MAN this summer with rumours of KQ etc., but it just never comes off.

Surely it would make sense for a carrier with a rather large hub at MAD to operate the service, so that pasengers could be fed in to their network?  Wink

They ill be initially using an A321 with a tech stop in Ankara.

Thanks. I thought I saw somewhere that PIA had planned for 28 slots for the summer. I've seen the 12 figure quoted on the aviation news wires to be reviewd on March 28.

Well Clickair have now taken over IB's Heathrow to Seville and Bilbao flights so I see no real issue for IB not allowing them to fly to MAN on a route they don't serve themselves. If Clickair did start the route, it would be with IB's full consent for sure.

I think GB will really come in to its own at MAN with BA's departure, espcially in the mid-haul market. Eilat, Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Dalaman and even Cairo would all be winners in my view.

As for LY, purely a matter of time before Israeli security agents are wandering the check in area!

Next new airline: Kuwait Airways!!

In this article is this paragraph:

"According to the airline's sales and marketing director, Ahmed Al-Hilal, Kuwait Airways also aims to introduce direct flights to Beijing, Manchester and South Africa by the end of the year, and will completely restructure its existing network."

Why is LH483 from EWR-FRA calling at MAN today? It's shown as an arrival at terminal 1 at 14:40, departing at 15:20.

There was a great deal of bad weather on the East Coast last night. Probably had a long hold for take off after leaving the gate or there were delays/problems with fuelling in the snow and they took on only enough fuel for a legal trip to MAN.

I've just checked the Lufthansa web site and the flight was running over 6 hours late. It is shown as cancelled to FRA, on arriving as a diversion at Manchester and the sector to FRA is rescheduled to arrive at 17.53, over 7 hours late.

Anybody know if CX are looking to make a comeback at MAN? I was looking for AF terminal the other day and browsed through the list... Cathay Pacific are listed as T3. Is this from their previous stint? Or a codeshare? Looking to come back?

Thanks,

CX is a codeshare with BA. I wish CX would come back, along with MH.

CX have been rumoured on and off for the last few years now. Last year we even got as far as days, flight times and numbers announced last year, only for the Russians to throw a spanner in the works by going back on a previous agreement and demanding silly money to allow the Moscow-MAN route.

SQ need something bigger now. Their flights are full, so getting a seat is close to impossible. The 773ER will not help as it carries less pax than the 772ER (285 v 278), as presently configured, even though I was told the other day that MAN is slated to get the aircraft in future. Maybe SQ may pin their hopes on getting transit traffic from PHL, via US, and go double daily or 380 Big grin
