Aerolitoral Brand To Dissappear!

Tue Mar 06, 2007 7:40 am

That is right, during the following days or weeks, 5D will be renamed. Any guess? Good bye to Litoral., it was a nice name for a regional, I liked it.

It would be nice to see something like AeroMexico Express or AeroMexico Regional, as well as matching the livery to AM's.

Crossing fingers here for it to be renamed AeroMexico Express... that would bring important commercial implications, possible inclusion into SkyTeam, raise of service standards and better working opportunities and benefits to current 5D employees such as proudly me.

What exactly did "Litoral" mean? IIRC, a French regional carrier had exactly the same name, so I'm guessing this came from Spanish and French's common Latin roots  Wink

I already miss the Metroliners into ELP...wonder why they dropped the CUU-ELP service?

The word Litoral, though in Spanish shouldn't be that difficult for the English speaker. Add another "T" and you will have:
LITTORAL.

Pronunciation: ˈli-tə-rəl; ˌli-tə-ˈral, -ˈräl
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin litoralis, from litor-, litus seashore
Date: circa 1656
: of, relating to, or situated or growing on or near a shore especially of the sea

OOPS Aerolitoral! Let's see what new surprises comes with this. Probably the beginning of seeing this ERJ in the new LAN/AM livery :P

Anyway, good luck to everyone there. But Fly727 might just be right, Aeromexico Express would be a good idea.

Correct, the eastern sea coast of Mexico is known as El Litoral. AeroLitoral, was originally founded as an airline based in Veracruz to serve destinations in Mexico along the the Gulf of Mexico-- hence the reason for the name. AeroMexico purchased the airline in the early 90s as a feeder airline and moved its operation base to Northern Mexico, but Aerolitoral is still known in the aviation world as the "Costera" what we would call a Coastliner.

I too agree that AeroMexico Express sounds very suitable for the airline.

Count me in, I like Aeromexico Express. As long as the tail's livery and colors don't change, everything is good. Is this possible, leave everything the same, and only change the name???

Clever name, but that already exists and belongs, precisely, to AeroMexico for its Cargo branch.
