If I were defending him I'd claim that his actions were part of the new program to reduce the cost of meals on the airline and that he should be given an award not a jail term.

So you are saying that its so easy to learn enough to become an aircraft mechanic that an 18 to 19 year old (at the time of the strike, 20 today) had enough training and experience to be a mechanic? Wow, you guys really were overpaid!

That is absurd. That person will end up in prison for a long time and deserves it. Some people are very disgusting. However what confuses me is that this woman did nothing when she felt the guy "spooning" her.

I think the fact that they were a NW employee won't mean that much. They were likely a non rev judging from the description since the guy was only 20 and was labelled as a non crew member in the article.

You need to read the article. It was during a flight from Seattle.

Not really. He is charged under 18 USC sec. 2A2.3, Minor Assault, a level 4 federal misdemeanor if he has no prior criminal history. The Federal Sentencing guidelines call for a 0-6 month prison sentence if convicted.

People do that kind of stuff in wierd places. 6 years ago I cought a student of mine "going to town" over by the tire machine in the shop. The Costodian at our school cought a kid doing it in the mop closet earlier this school year. When I was in 9th grade a kid in my studyhall was doing it in a classroom full of students. He had a coat over his wheezer and when the teacher came by he pulled the coat away. I'll never forget when 25 kids all looked in that direction and everyone said "What the ****". That guy was out of school for the rest of year. On a even more bizare note that student was wearing ladies clothes by the end of senior year.

If you get that worked up that you have to do it in public then you have issues.

The what you call overpaid ones were topped out mechanics which takes 5 yrs. Add to that the requirements at the time I hired in 1988 were 5 yrs heavy jet experience to even be considered for an interview. The new mechanics they have now have little experience and the pay has been slashed considerably. The only experience they have are the original NW guys who scabbed and most of them were losers who had previously been fired and hired back or were incompetent to begin with.

This is the kind of rhetoric that just makes most people look at unions and go .........!! Just because someone has their own beliefs or chooses a choice different than the party line/rhetoric they are all losers and rejects. Frankly I know quite a few losers and rejects that are in unions because they are protected by the unions and get promotions and pay raises simply for breathing air and hanging around long enough.

Heck NWA tried to reward pilots that went above and beyond during the holidays and picked up extra flights and etc and gave them gift cards and etc and now the union is suing NWA, come on get a life already.

In this case according to the news he was a ESE (Ramp/Baggage).
