MUC News!

Fri Mar 09, 2007 6:51 am

Ok, here we go again. There is some really nice info this time !

IMO, the bummers are:

DE: Will transfer all longhaul flights to FRA ! Shocking ! Why ? However, they'll start service to BGO and KKN, each once weekly.

SV is going to start RUH-MUC and JED-MUC, each weekly with B777 via VIE. The service will begin on 20 June.

Let's go on: Kaliningradavia (KD) will start KGD-MUC, once weekly.

RO wil increase SBZ-MUC to twice daily (from once daily), but it seems the tag-on to CLJ was abandonned.

A3 will start HER-MUC, thrice weekly. The double daily ATH-MUC flight will now be nonstop.

MS: CAI-MUC finally going daily !

LT will increase the frequency to twice weekly for the following destinations: RSW, MLE (via CMB), MIA and SKG.

KM will increase the frequency to MLA to thrice weekly, with the flight now sometimes stopping in CTA.

JK: will start BCN-MUC twice daily, as well as BIO-MUC, daily.

XQ: ADB-MUC increased to 4x/week.

U2: cancels the BSL flights, however, as already known, will start EDI-MUC daily.

TS: YVR-YCC-MUC will be reduced to once weekly.

BV (blu-express): all flights to FCO have been cancelled.

BT: VNO will be reduced to 4x/week, however, 737s will be used ISO F50.

YQ (Polet): VOZ-MUC is increased to thrice weekly.

LO: increases WRO-MUC to twice dailya and KTW to 11x/week.

TK: will move to Terminal 2.

TUIfly: all flights, except those to TLV and CAI, will use the X3 code. CAI and TLV stay HF.

Pegasus Airlines: SAW-MUC increased to thrice weekly.

IB: increases the frequency to MAD by an additional 5 flights per week.

4R / HH: will start AYT and KRR, each weekly, as well as PSR twice weekly.

I didn't have the time to do everything now, the rest will follow later.

IB is very happy about how performs MUC therefore it's logic to see a bigger frequency on the MAD-MUC-MAD route.

Interesting,

I had a look at the summer timetable of MUC, and was surprised to see that LH is starting YUL service so soon. As of April 8th, they will fly daily for the entire summer. I find that to be extremetly early, especially for a seasonal market like YUL.

Even AC with their 5x weekly service from YYZ wont be starting daily service until May 8th, an entire month later.

TS: YVR-YCC-MUC will be reduced to once weekly.

With the addition of YUL-BCN, YUL-VLC, YUL-AGP and (YUL and YYZ)- VIE this summer, it's no surprise that they cut back on west coast operations.

Or did you mean "YYC"....because I'd not heard of any airline serving that tiny airport..

I've discovered that LH will start GCI and JER, each a weekly service !

Also, OS will launch a weekly F70 service to INN !

U6 (Ural) will increase SVX-MUC to twice weekly ! The information was hidden in the timetable.

Well, the rest I is basically some frequency increases for AB and X3, not really worth mentioning.

More interesting are some C9 charter flights to destinations as far away as FUE and HRG using a 737. IIRC they'll operate 2 738s for another carrier, who is it ?

Does anyone think there is enough demand for a 2nd nonstop SFO - MUC flight, at least during high season? LH 459 / 458 is always quite packed. Would UA possibly consider doing this route? I do realize they recently added a 2nd daily SFO - FRA.

IMO, LH will base a few 748s at MUC in the future. I don't see the reason for a second daily flight yet.

Yes there is, and UA has already applied for slots (SFO-MUC UA962, arr 0630, 772, MUC-SFO UA963, dep 0900, 772). They've been requested from June 8th till Oct 27th, but the currently assigned times (arr 0655 departure 1030) are apparently not to UA's liking.

Any carrier from an EU country can operate to/from any city in the EU. Eg Futura can fly MXP-MAN as both MXP and MAN are cities in the EU. FUA is using C9 so it can operate routes from Germany outside of the EU, like Egypt etc. This is also why Futura formed an Irish Subsidiary, Futura Gael (FGL)

Ok this route has not been "approved" in the sense that slots have been assigned. The problem is apparently that UA wanted to depart at 0900 but got the departure slot at 1030 (all times UTC). Maybe it's just a placeholder for some other flight.
Planned was: arrival 0630 (0830 local), departure 0900 (1100 local)
Assigned was: arrival 0655 (0855 local), departure 1030 (1230 local)
That's a lengthy layover and also gets this flight closer (in time) to the 1530-odd(local) departure of LH to SFO.

The source of this information is the German Slot Coordinator (to be more precise: the waiting list, because UA apparently has refused the assignments from what I understand)

Checking that page for availability 1030 is the earliest possible time for a daily departure. The are NO free departure slots (from JUN-8 to OCT-27 2007) for a daily departure between 0620 and 1030. Neither are there free arrival slots between 0530 and 0950 (all times UTC again).

MUC needs that 3rd runway BADLY.

Thanks very much, now I've got something to play with! And welcome on my RU list!

More things to be discovered there!  Wow!

U8 is requesting slots to/from EVN, twice weekly with A319

An airline with the code FLY (never heard of them) requesting slots for 5x/week services from GOT!

BE requesting slots to/from SOU, 6x/week with EMB195!

BD (I guess BMIbaby) requesting slots for 6x/week services to EDI with ERJ145! They would face strong competition from U2.

BV to re-start FCO-MUC twice weekly?

And, very mysterious, an airline with the code TAY is requesting 3x/week slots from OTP, with "14Z" aircraft, what's that? And what does the code "H" mean in the STC field?

On the freight side, an airline has requested slots to ops EMB120 feeder flights to CGN 4x/week, on behalf of FX.

CX has been granted another weekly slot from DXB and to HKG, to be operated with the 744BCF I think.

Sorry, I originally overlooked your question !

Yes, the INN-MUC leg is continued to CLY, and they decided to sell seats on this leg. Before, the MUC-CLY flight originated in VIE.
So it is possible to book INN-CLY, INN-MUC and MUC-CLY. Theoretically! Neither could I find the flights in Amadeus, nor could I book them on www.aua.com !

MS: CAI-MUC finally going daily !

Munich has been doing well for EgyptAir. Last summer (S06) the airline had a 1x weekly A320 CAI-MUC flight, in W06/07 this increased to 4x weekly and for S07 it becomes a daily service. Last December, Lufthansa took over MS's ground handling at MUC which meant flights transferred from T1 to T2.

This increase puts MUC on par with FRA in terms of frequency however the latter see the slightly larger B738 with the new enhanced C class.

TNT as we all know is a Freight operator.

Due to the current situation about traffic rights, MUC-BOM cannot be started before 2008 iirc, also it'll have to wait till the next batch of A340-600 or A330-300 arrive (due in 2008 as well)

Other news:
TK with a weekly 310F flight to IST.
BA with a weekly 744F flight STN-MUC-DEL-HKG(!) (possibly op by Global Supply Systems?)
