BBC Series "Mile High"

Sat Mar 17, 2007 2:15 am

I've recently stumbled across an interesting TV series by the BBC called 'Mile High". Think soap opera
with an airline theme. It appears it is no longer being shown on BBC America.
How long ago did this series debut and is it still being shown in the UK or Europe??
Does anybody know if it will be shown again in the States??

Hi,

The series Finale was shown on BBC America a couple of months back. It ran for only 2 seasons in the UK, and there were several changes in the cast. Some left after season one, some new ones came aboard for season two. I enjoyed it when it was on, and do hope it is replayed. The entire series is also available for purchase on DVD. I can't recall new or used. Hope this is useful.

The show was produced by Sky rather than the BBC, I believe. It only ran for a couple of seasons between 2003 and 2005. Channel 4 in the UK is rumoured to be looking at resurrecting the series.

A pretty tacky show, not terribly well written, but somehow compulsive viewing  Smile

Hey. Mile High was not done by the BBC. It was made for and shown on Sky One as well as various other channels like Sky Three and BBC America. It ran from February 2003 to July 2005 and had a run of two series. It focused the lives of crew from a fictional airline called 'Fresh' a supposed budget carrier operating out of London. Most of the scenes were filmed in and around London Stansted and the aircraft used for exterior shots was mainly G-IGOX of Go which was all white. The editors then CG'd the airlines colours and titles onto the aircraft.

As to when it will air again in the states who knows but I guess it will be aired again at some point. Series 1 and 2 are available on DVD to buy in the UK and I believe Series 1 is now available in the US with Series 2 to follow soon.

For more info see - http://www.skyone.co.uk/programmes/milehigh/

Hope this helps,

Nick

In America here's a link - http://www.kochvision.com/product.aspx?number=741952643890
In the UK - Any big DVD store like HMV or Virgin stock them

Series 2 should be released in the US in June this year.

I loved that show! i saw all the episodes and was very surprised when it ended abruptly. I didnt know I was watching the last episode when it all ended. I miss it a lot. I wish they resurrect the show.
The plots were actually good for a cheezy show. an with a name like "Fresh Air" who wouldnt want to see what happens in an airline like that?

Mile High isn't the best programme ever made but it really is compulsive viewing. Also it has lots of beautiful women in it.

Agree Completely. I was disapointed in the ending.

I have Time Warner cable and parts of season 1 are available on BBC America OnDemand.

I actually liked the last episode and how it explained what happened to everyone.

I saw a lot of the filming a few year ago at Stansted (EGSS) and Southend (EGMC) at Stansted they used a GO B737 for filming and at Southend they were using a BAC 1-11.

The TV is full of this trash these days !!!! This was the worst program I have seen for along time and I hope its gone for good.

More trash this evening when the UK chose their Eurovision song contest entry ''scootch'' 2 boys and 2 girls dressed up as cabin crew !!!! The boys had more make up on then the girls !!!!!

I think you might be refering to a programme called 'The High Life'. If so that was another sitcom about a fictional Scottish airline - Air Scotia based in Prestwick (though ironically most of the shots were filmed in Glasgow). It was a very funny sitcom but only ran for 6 episodes. That's available on DVD to buy also.

I got a 1 meter dish years ago but then it all went digital so I had to buy a new Universal twin LNB and a new Digi sat receiver which i got in DXB last year for only GBP65!!! Amazing value and I get hundreds of channels incl. ERT and PIK. You can get MEGA/ANT1/MAD/MAKEDONIA but you need a card like SKY TV as its pay TV but Ive heard you can get ''alternative'' cards on the black market but I havnt bothered so far. ERT is better than nothing but Id prefer MEGA and ANT1. Id like to get MAD for the music. You could get a decent system with dish and box for around GBP.200 from one of your local Satt.dealers. The receiver I got was DELSAT DSR500 Plus so if your going to DXB you could pick one up cheap. Theres another HDTV Greek tourism channel showing ''postcards'' of Greece but its only something you watch every now and then. I get channels from Italy/France/Middle East/Germany/Poland/Serbia/Russia/Turkey. Its quite interesting and if theres a news story in that country about a plane emergency or worse its handy to have also on French TV they have things on the A380 from time to time. Im hoping that German TV will have coverage of the A380 / LH test flights to the USA tomorrow.

I love your photos of the OA A340's and Athens 2004 B737 livery by the way.
