Emergency At BOS Now! 1920 EDT

Just heard it over ATC.. They are holding aircraft to accommodate an emergency landing on 15R...more info anyone?

Got some more info... it was jetBlue 1017 and made an emergency landing on 15R...

Why did they go back to Logan? They were just as close to JFK... in fact, this flight was 4 minutes longer than the flight yesterday that went all the way to JFK.

yea i cant figure that out...after they landed they were tended to by the proper Firetrucks, etc., but i still dont know what the detail is...

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but CO 22 just declared an emergency and planned to divert back to EWR due to an open cockpit window. Departures were halted and the plane, a 757, was on its way back, when they announced they had closed the window and were going to continue to DUB.

I just checked all the usual online news outlets for Boston(Herald, Globe, WHDH, WBZ, WCVB and Fox 25) and there was no mention of any such emergency. It obviously happened as the flightaware site shows, but it was clearly not any kind of dire situation as that definitely would have made the local news. From past experience, the local news tends to pounce on anything even close to an emergency situation at Logan. I wouldn't be too concerned, this kind of thing happens somewhere every day.

JetBlue.com now says that the flight should be departing NOW at 10:05pm! I wonder what happened?

I just checked JetBlue.com to check the status of the flight and it says that it then diverted to JFK and landed at JFK! Here is a photo of the tracker!

Probably hit a flock of mosquitos clogging the pitot tube.. Bos is so much more advanced in emergencies than Jfk.

Just that they closed the window on the way back to EWR less than 3 minutes after declaring an emergency and continued to DUB. I think they leveled at 3000 on the way back. They announced 141 souls on board with a little less that 8 hours fuel remaining. Tower stopped departures and some planes shut down an engine. Then the pilots closed the window before making it back to EWR and went on their way, no emergency.

I didn't think this sort of situation necessitated declaring an emergency. They could have just asked to level off temporarily to close the window, unless it got stuck.

If a cockpit window opens on T/O, you keep flying the plane and close/lock the window. Not too big a deal surprisingly.

WOW! There has been a lot of B6 emergency landings!
And if they are having trouble with their Embraer aircraft, that would suck! I mean, they already had to drop them for a week, and they have had an emergency landing at LAX and TPA already with their Airbus aircraft.

The aircraft had an electrical problem and nosewheel steering was effected. A/C was towed off runway to the gate. Same aircraft completed flight later.
