RE: Longest Flight In One Time Zone?

I know these are not extremely long flights but from what I can find they all occur in the same time zone (UTC+8 no dst)
I've also listed the airliens that operate the route). Distance is from the Great Circle Mapper
PEK-KUL 2375nm (Air China, Malaysia)
PEK-SIN 2416nm (Singapore, Air China)

I took an ORD-PVG polar flight, it reached about 85 degrees north latitude. Over the ice cap, I followed the navigation map, and tried to plot the route, But its tricky to plot longitude near the north pole on a map with little detail. But every 10 or 15 minutes the local time would change. Since at the northpole the timezones are divided strictly based on longitude, I could figure our longitude within a 15 degree range, and even more precisely based on how long it had been since the clock last changed time zones. Furthermore knowing the speed of the aircraft and the time it took for time zones to change I could approximate our longitude. All of this navigation with only a clock!!!

OK, I admit I am a real dork, but 8 hours into a 14 hour flight, I was the most entertained of the passengers with insomnia.

Give it a shot next time you find yourself near the pole!

Are there any other places in the US who do not follow the "savings Time" apart from Arizona?

Hawai'i is the only other one.

AC flies YYZ-LIM, surely a little longer than JFK-LIM

YYZ-LIM 3836 miles
JFK-LIM 3629 miles

So, it sounds like this one is still the winner for a flight that is always in the same time zone, even if they adjust for daylight savings?

Nope, Santiago (like all the rest of Chile) is on Atlantic time, but they do daylight savings the opposite of how the northern hemisphere does, so from March to October (or so) the clocks read the same thing.

So FRA-WDH is still our winner...
