Oooh. Can't argue with you there. Pretty unimpressive for something with that much build up.

I do not really understand how the tail design came about. But in all reality, big deal.

99% of the people flying do not even know ,or have not even seen what the plane looks like from the outside.

Or much less care.

That's the worst kind of lack of imagination. I was hoping DL would bring a modernised version of the old Widget colours, yet the disappoint again.

Maybe they should have kept the Deltaflot colourscheme after all.

In other news, that 767 is actually a miniature model!

I was never a wavy gravy fan and am pleased that the widget is back.... the 3D widget on the tail looks rather interesting although its hard to say from these pics. I also like the darker blue. Overall, I am a bit undwhelmed but it certainly is a classy look.

And I thought ExpressJet's livery was a disappointment.

Sheesh.

The tail looks positively uininspired and downright ugly.

The AJC had an article about it today. It didn't have a picture, but it did mention a red widget on a blue tail. I didn't think I'd get a chance to see it so soon.

Reminds me of Canadian, especially the tail. I do like the font they use for the titles. You really can't make out the widget up front too well in the shot(s); it almost looks like the "frowning" widget.

what the...? no no no.

1. ) WHY IS THE WIDGET CROOKED ON THE BACK?
2.) There is absolutely nothing inspiring about this livery.

I will say this tho, that font is really sharp.

I loved wavy gravy! However, after reading a description about the navy tail with a red, three dimensional widget, I thought, "Hmmm, this might be cool."

Blech! Actually, not blech, but boring.

As a side note, what is it with carriers replacing good liveries with sucky ones? Aeromexico comes to mind. Love the old one.

This must be a joke, or something posted intentionally as "disinformation".

A) The tail is ghastly.
B) It doesn't bring back the widget in any useful sense (other than on the fuselage, where it never left).
C) The nacelles are the same (minus the little red streak).
D) It would make no sense to get rid of the curves, "wavy gravy", flowing widget, etc. and then add a curve back to the navy (?) painted on the belly.
E) The "airplane" in the new livery is some kind of model, not a real airplane.
F) I doubt anyone hired as a photographer for a major corporation's launch of a major rebranding effort would prematurely post photos of said effort on the Internet.

On edit: The fuselage isn't really terrible, although it's not much of a change. It's the tail that's ugly, and that's both what the eye is drawn to first and the biggest change. All the other points are valid.

Well, at least it has a widget. I am tired of the white on new liveries as well. Every airline is getting white, or adding a shade of it to lighten their colors (everyone but WN). UA, US, and DL have turned to white, and NW and FL have made their colors lighter, though FL's still looks good, NW's sucks.

How the hell do you build icon recognition by cutting off your icon on the biggest billboards you have? You wouldn't know it's the DL widget unless you were a big DL fan or someone explained it to you. It just looks like some red and blue shapes...

Well now that I've had a chance to stew on it; I'll say:

- I do like the widget/title up front
- The blue swoop on the bottom of the belly is better then plain white; but they really could've done more
- The tail is terrible. The widget gets completely lost (the red doesn't stand out enough) and it just doesn't feel quite right.

Synopsis: Re-do the tail and add something to fill all of the eurowhite emptiness and you're moving in the right direction.

Nice font, actually. I wonder if the new font will be featured on the Breast Cancer Awareness and Habitat For Humanity aircraft. While the widget is now red, the logotype appears to still be in blue, meaning that Delta hasn't dropped their historic signature color.

Why are people complaining that it's bland? The last livery was a blanket of white! It was the epitome of bland! The tail is kinda boring, but anything is an improvement over the current livery (although the garbage bag on the tail has finally grown on me.) I just think it's hilarious that people are complaining about eurowhite yet the livery it is replacing is less colorful!

How do you know that this is the final livery and not one of several interim designs being considered? Until it actually appers on a real aircraft rather than a model I would be reluctant to believe that this is the final design.

are you kidding me? yuck.

i've always thought that if Delta wants to be more global, they need to have a look that is "classier" in a sense. I like the body of this aircraft but the tail is too dismal, too ugly and doesn't achieve the "global" and "updated" modern asthetic that i thought they would be going for.

blak.

That must be a joke! That is the worst paint scheme yet, I certainly hope that's not really their new paint scheme. It doesn't incorporate any of the things the new scheme was supposed to, and looks nothing like N610DL or N171DZ. I don't think that's the real thing.

Delta has been working on brand name recognition for a while. They decided to market as simply "Delta", thus the lack of "Air Lines" in the title.

I think it would be prudent to withhold judgment until we see it on a real airplane in real sunlight. I think the tail may look much better in the day of light.

The font and spacing is actually very reminiscent of historic Delta style. I sort of like that. And I like the blue belly...its a radical departure for Delta.

While the livery it isn't revolutionary, I actually think it might need up looking very elegant and classy. It isn't just a livery though, the entire brand will be redone, including all advertising. I am anxious to see the whole package before I determine how I really feel about it.

Heh, I love how if you look at the last 3 liveries, they're effectively the same thing, just with progressivly less and less paint. The 1997 livery removed the red cheatline and black nose and the most recent livery removed the cheatline entirely and dropped "Air Lines." Otherwise all 3 are the same basic livery.

Someone should start a site fast so that we can sign a petition to not let this livery get out on the fleet. We still have time, and Delta listens to their customers. If they hear enough complaints, they'll do something about it.

Looks like a cross of new US Airways and Air Canada.
