The carrier was formed in October 2006 and their first aircraft (a 220-seater B757-200) arrived in Cairo in January 2007. Up until recently the aircraft was parked outside the airport's VIP terminal (T1 Hall 4) until the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation resolved issues with regards to ownership of the airline (75% owned by Air Italy). The aircraft was finally given its Egyptian registration SU-BPY on 27MAR07. The aircraft will be based at the Red Sea Airport of Sharm El Sheikh and will mainly operate charter flights to Italy but also France, Spain and Germany. As operations expand flights will start to the United Kingdom, Scandinavia and Poland.

The aircraft still wears the basic Air Italy colours albeit with 'EuroMediterranean Airlines' titles.
