Why just once a week, is this a new addition or replaces one 777 service?

yes, I have just checked the fares for this, and the cheapest I can find is from Singapore Airlines directly, for 255 Euro's one way.

Not too bad I guess as it is a fairly long way. An interesting way to go to DXB anyway and clock up some Star Alliance frequent flier miles!

I was just quoted 305 Euros return on SQ website. It is the cheapest option. Though Air Arabia from SAW to SHJ is becoming very popular here especially with tour operators. They charge maximum 200 Euros.

IST must be doing well for SQ for them to put a limited 744 on the route. AKL is loosing it's 744 service from July.

Yeah and when TK join Star Alliance I could do a DUB-IST with TK and then get SQ IST-DXB . Would be a cool trip and some nice miles.
